Lovely sweeping parkland for excellent walks whether visiting the House and Gardens or not. Sheep grazing freely so dogs must be leashed. Excellent paths or access to all. Informative signs to describe features.

“Capability Brown at his best”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

Burghley Park is gracious and elegant and looked quite delightful in Spring greenery. It offers a Surprise Garden, topiary and avenues of yew.

“Beautiful Burghley”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

The house was lovely, lots of rooms to see and lots of interesting things to look at. The 'Garden of Surprises' was filled with 'tricks' usually water, which the children there loved. The Sculpture Park was fascinating. A great day out.

“Great for family walk/bike riding”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

Burghley house is a firm favourite of ours and I would have given it 5 out of 5 but the points I feel let it down is the increasing number of cars driving quite fast up to the house and the price of the food/snacks/icecream in the orangery or cafe which are extortionate and difficult to justify when we have friends staying for the weekend, which is such a shame. When we do have friends staying we opt for Grimesthorpe Castle (not open on Saturday's) which has a great adventure playground for children 10yrs and under, the cafe is so reasonable and there is much more space for families to spread out (woodland walk, lake, house gardens & grounds and the cafe is very reasonable) but check for opening times as it changes from spring to summer to autumn.

“Walk with family”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

The park is always well maintained and access is fantastic all year round for walking or cycling. We use the park as much as possible as its so local to Stamford, and its a jewel in the Stamford's crown. Lots of people enjoying the house, gardens, cafe, restaurant, shop, grounds and deer. Some of the events are fabulous value, some are expensive so choose carefully. The recent event with local farmers was absolutely fabulous and highly recommended to all should they have it again. All local produces had stalls selling their wear's and hot and cold snacks...so make sure you go hungry with a good shopping bag.
My kids like to fly kites in the vast grass areas, and in the summer you see alot of families playing frizby and or cricket etc...just a wonderful place thanks to all who maintain it and keep up the fantastic work.
