Ok where will I start..............
We booked for a party of 4, on a friend recommendation and we had never been before.....We arrived and the sun was on the lake and the lake as looking fantastic, nice romantic music playing in the back ground everything you would expect on a Saturday night out with your loved one and great friends.....Then the night went down hill, on entering it looked like the M6 waitress running all around carrying plates, dropping cutlery and faces like a kipper. We sat by a large mirror and waited, waited and waited, then someone actually acknowledged us and gave us a menu, the some more waiting......Don't have the black pudding potato cake as its tasteless. So is the fish ( when you find it), and the pate is sliced with a razorblade its that thin. Then the mains arrive Lamb shank from aldi, (no rosemary jui ) just thick gravy. The sirloin steak 5/6oz , sae bass fillets (nemick )ALL SERVED WITH COLD VEG.....We asked to speak to the manager but same old............Still waiting.........on the way home we stopped @ Alrewas chippie..should have just went there with a walk along the canal......( one other thing do not look through the window into the kitcken.. you wont eat a thing )

Myself and my partner visited the boathouse yesterday as we are looking for a venue for our wedding. I was really dissapointed. The building is really shabby and untidy on the outside with lots of cheap notices advertising drinks and really needs a lick of paint and a bit more. The setting is beautiful but spoiled by the state of the fixed seating outside - again all in a state of disrepair with the paint practically falling off the woodwork. I appreciate that all of the reviews about the food are really good but for a wedding when photos will be taken etc it is really in a poor state - the website photos must be really old!! It's definitely not somewhere I would want to book for myself and my guests for my special day

A homely restaurant looking out over the lake at Sutton Park and we were fortunate to witness a gorgeous sunset. The food was of a high standard (definitely not pub grub), and well presented. The staff were friendly and not over-bearing. Would suggest that you make a reservation in advance as the restaurant is not large and is very popular. There is a lovely patio area next to the lake that is ideal for a pre-meal drink.

We all had the 3 courses for £15.95 menu, each course was a decent size, well cooked and tasty. We felt it was value for money and the service quick and attentive and the atmosphere was pleasant.
The only changes we would suggest are an increased selection of vegetables and to offer that the chocolate fudge cake can be served hot.
We will definitely visit again as we enjoyed the food, service and venue.
