Lunch with friends on a sunny day. It was busy in the restaurant, almost full. Attentive service, but not intrusive. We all had table d'hote 3 course lunch for £13.50. What a bargain for 3 courses of delicious food.

Thank Cheryl D

We booked a table for four to have lunch at The Boathouse, it's been one of our favourite places to eat for a long time now and so we were really looking forward to it. One of our group could not make it but before we gave our apologies we were shown to a table for three. Unfortunately, we had arrived the same time as a large birthday party group who had about two thirds of the restaurant and were noisily catching up with each other so you could not hear yourself think, let alone have a conversation.
One of our group is hard of hearing and was really struggling and so I asked the waitress if we could be moved into an alcove, where just one lady was sitting eating, in the hope it might be quieter. After a couple of 'pardons' from the waitress as she could not hear me she went off to find out. The three of us were then offered a table for two and knowing how many dishes are brought out with your dinner I could tell right away it would not be adequate. We were told that once the birthday group had their food it would go quieter.
We were so unhappy at the lack of helpfulness and total apathy that we decided to abandon the idea of having lunch there. It has soured our thoughts about The Boathouse, one bad experience can make you very reluctant to go back and in fact where we might have happily gone there for my Mother's birthday this week we are looking for another place to go to.

We visited the Boathouse on March 8th for a family birthday Lunch.(Friday) The restaurant was very busy when we arrived at 1 o'clock but we were shown straight to our reserved table, coats taken and drinks ordered by a very friendly and welcoming member of staff. He returned shotly afterwards and we all ordered from the excellent set menu. He was very informative on menu choices and the food did not disappoint when it came, hot and plenty of it, the vegetable platter was amazing and beautifully presented. There was only one other table still dining when we ordered our sweet, but we were not made to feel rushed, and the staff were discreetly on hand to clear away and bring our coffees when they were required. The weather was not good and so the lovely view we could have had across the lake was absent, but that will not be the only reason we return to this lovely little spot. Although a bit more pricey than the average,The
Boathouse is well worth the extra cash for a 'special occasion' meal out. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful location but take a beautiful walk in the park instead and save your heard earned!

Cleanliness is also very poor; I had cobwebs on the back of my seat, crumbs from previous diner beneath my chair and the extract fans are so blocked and dirty you can hear them at the top of the road. Unfortunately a friend had made the reservation and invited me to share some good news so I persevered to the end of meal and left my friend none the wiser.

Lovely place, great food for the price. Couldn't appreciate the location as it was dark but set overlooking the lake. Service was excellent. Food arrived quickly and as a party of seven none of us had to wait to long before we all had our meals. They do a credit crunch menu mon-wed nights making it very popular. Definitely would go again!
