Myself and my partner recently stayed hear in March 2013 for our friends wedding. The hotel staff are extremely pleasant and helpful and this premier is attached to a pub which offers great food, great srvice and value for money and happily offers a children's menu. It also has a childs play area outside and has a tesco within 2 mins walking distance. Would strongly recommend

Room Tip: The hotel has a lift to access the upper floor but would recommend ground floor for disabled or fami...

Have to say out of all the Premier Inn's I've stayed in this is the best one for me as I slept like a baby the 2 times I've been here.
The rooms are spacious, comfy & quiet!
The pub that's attached is also great apart from closing at 11pm?! Staff in the bar are very helpful & friendly. (Need a set of darts)

The breakfast was one of the nicest Premier Inn's I've had and the dinner was great also.

We stayed two weekend nights for a family wedding in the area. Having stayed at several other Premier Inns and been very pleased with them, we chose this one assuming it would be as good. As I say in the title, it's OK but it just isn't as good as the others.

Specifically:

The building is old but despite this our room was fitted out nicely in the usual PI style and colours. I think because of this the room was rather small and some other family members staying in other rooms found noise travelled between rooms rather easily, although we had no problem with this.

We booked a disabled room. At many Premier Inns you have a choice (if you phone) of bath with grab rails, or wet-room shower. However, this one has only the bath option, which we knew in advance. The bath was surrounded by sturdy looking bars, which would be excellent for some people but for my wife it meant she couldn't even sit on the end of the bath as is her usual compromise if there isn't a shower. We'd taken our shower stool from home but it was too wide to sit in the bath. The doors and the bathroom were I think larger than in a non-disabled room, but this appeared to be at the expense of space in the room itself, which would have been very cramped for a full-time wheelchair user.

As at other PIs cleanliness was excellent and maintenance almost perfect. A few slightly cracked tiles in the bathroom didn't detract much from a generally good appearance.

Other Premier Inn's we've stayed in have had their own restaurant, which is usually functional but adequate. This one relies instead on a steak-house pub/restaurant attached, which seemed very down-market - not really a pleasant place for an evening meal but OK for breakfast I suppose. The staff and service here were all very helpful and pleasant though.

One of the things that really impresses me with Premier Inns is the staff, who seem in all cases to be friendly, pleasant and genuinely helpful in a natural, unforced way. This was the case at this one too - when I phoned in advance with some questions, when we checked in and every time we passed through Reception. I don't know whether this is the result of good staff selection or good training but it is impressive and makes one feel so much more welcome.

One more thing I've said before: Premier Inns have a ludicrous wi-fi service, which allows you 30 mins per device per day free of charge (if you can be bothered to go through the registration process on all your devices) then there's a smallish charge per day (per device) if you want more. They probably think it's good value and they're right that it's not expensive; the problem is that having to register each device and potentially login again every time you re-enter the building is just a pain and a major disincentive for anyone to stay here on business. A large number of hotels and other establishments these days provide hassle-free wi-fi free of charge. If Premier Inns did so, they could attract customers from competitors who don't yet do so and avoid losing customers to those that do. For me free wifi is one of the biggest reasons I would consider staying at another hotel - not so much for the cost saving but for the convenience.

One more thing to be aware of. For some incredible reason O2's phone service in this hotel is borderline. We had to keep going outside (in the snow) to get enough signal to send texts, and talking on the phone was rarely possible. It's not the hotel's fault of course but it's a major inconvenience if you're an O2 customer.

Don't be put off too much by my comments - this hotel really is OK in most respects. I'm taking off two stars, for the small room, the poor eating facilities, and the wi-fi arrangements.

This Premier Inn is well located for those wishing on explore the Sutton Coldfield and north Birmingham area. It has ample car parking space and for those without transport, a bus stop is a two minute walk away. Rooms are immaculately clean, with excellent sized beds and ample pillows. Despite being on quite a busy road, the hotel is quiet, particularly if you ask for a room on the car park side, rather than the road side of the building. One of the really great things about this hotel is the wonderfully welcoming and friendly team of staff who run it. On the front desk, you are guaranteed a friendly welcome and excellent service from Emma, Lisa, Elaine, Josh and Charlie, and all staff members go out of their way to attend to every need that arises. It is an extremely friendly place and a credit to the team.

Room Tip: Quieter rooms are on the car park side of the building away from the traffic.....though at weekends...

Stayed for 3 nights, then booked a forth due to snow. Kept the same room with no fuss at all.
Room was clean, bed huge, bathroom shiny, and the Flaming Grill bar and restaurant next door, which had a passage way between hotel and pub, was excellent.
Ate there four times, had a couple of bar snacks, all very good, but you just HAVE to have a king sized portion of their "Sticky ribs", gorgeous!!
All in all, fantastic, as are all the premier inns i have stayed in. To be honest, if i have to visit any where i always book the nearest available Premier inn, and so far i have been lucky enough NOT to have bumped into Lenny Henry!

Room Tip: Rooms on the car park side are quiet, though it's a quiet area. Be aware it's only small, an...

After staying at many Premier Inns over the years, we were disappointed to find this particular hotel was old and in need of refurbishment. Bed was uncomfortable and TV was small and so last century. Bathroom was small and in need of refit. Plug hole was rusty and over bath shower temperamental. No lifts. No security doors, stairs and corridors creeked. WiFi in room didn't work. Staff were very friendly but didn't make up for poor quality of this hotel.
