Overpriced drinks in the dark and dingy bar set the tone for this horrible hotel.

Mould in the bathroom, with atrocious water pressure. Well below average food in the restaurant with incompetent (but friendly) service. Everything was a compromise on our behalf to make their lives bearable, from all of us feeling it would be wise to order the same drink, to us accepting the wrong dishes as they were delivered.

Then - having paid for my extras on departure, they went ahead and charged my card again the next day (without me there).

Please note that we have delayed responding to your negative report as we have taken it up with Trip Advisor in view of the fact that some 9 months have elapsed since your stay with us and this is the only report you have written. Regretably, on this occasion Trip Advisor have declined to have it removed.

I can confirm that 9 months on, we are unable to investigate any specific areas of your claims but do hope you took the opportunity to speak to the team at the time who, I am confident, would have investigated your concerns immediately with a view to resolving them during your stay to a satisfactory conclusion.

all in all this hotel was a big disappointment. I stayed in room 310 and it take ages to get there from the reception: take a lift to first floor, walk some 150 yards along through corridors, stairs, doors, again stairs ... another 100 yards through the labyrinth. Than you realize that the room kex is not working... So back to the reception and and start the journey again.
I do not want to say that all rooms are that shabby like 310 but it probably needed a renovation already 10 years ago. The worn-off carpet is probably the original from 1973 and so the bathroom is. The vent in the bathroom runs 24 hours even if the light is switched off since hours. The heating makes flow noises all night and to change the TV channels with the remote control is a challange.
The "Leissure Club" preserves the charme of the British 70`s - ignoring opportunities and trends of the modern.

Room Tip: to choose a good room ask for freshly renovated rooms or another hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay at Ramada Sutton Coldfield and I am very sorry that the hotel did not meet with your expectations.

I am sorry to hear that you found the unusual hotel layout inconvenient, but this is due to the nature of the hotel’s development over the years and having a non-conforming traditional style can also be part of our appeal!

It is disappointing to learn that your room did not meet your expectations and please be assured that following your feedback our maintenance team have rechecked the room to address the issues you identified.

Whilst I concur that some aspects of the hotel would benefit from investment, we are a 3 star mid-market hotel committed to ensuring rooms are clean and well maintained, and our team is friendly and welcoming. However, what we have as shortcomings, we hope is made up for through efficient service, pleasant grounds, free car parking, extensive leisure club facilities and an easily accessible location.

It is our hope to be able to be of service to you again in future.

We stayed at the Ramada while attending the N E C Very comfortable room, clean and very comfy beds, no complaints there On arrival Amy receptionist, not very welcoming, and quite surly on departiure, which was a shame Bar staff and kitchens very over stretched, more staff needed
A Beefburger meal was sent back twice to the kitchens, for being stone cold Eventually requested a refund, as inedible, Manager, very apologetic and gracious, but was left with a disappointing experience, regarding the bar meal, however, on the whole, was an enjoyable stay and could recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to record your thoughts on your recent experience at Ramada Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield and I am delighted that your overall stay was positive and that you found your room comfortable.

I am however, disappointed to learn that you found a member of our staff unwelcoming as this is most unusual. All staff are trained in customer care and we constantly check and encourage everyone to always be friendly and helpful as we know how important this is to our guest experience and, usually, guests inform us that we get this right. I am confident that this was an isolated incident but as a precaution I have discussed the matter with the team member concerned to ensure it does not happen in future.

I do appreciate you noting your observations regarding our bar food and please accept my apologies that the dish you identify did not meet expectation. I have raised your comments with our Restaurant team to ensure that in future our food is served promptly to ensure it is at the right temperature and that the quality meets our usual high standard.

We had a brill , living social voucher to stay at this hotel . It included afternoon tea and breakfast ! Really good value and very friendly staff ! Gym was a bit on the small size considering how big the hotel was but other than that we had a great time !

This was a return stay at this hotel , a year after our first visit. Last year was good, however a year onsee found a hotel , below our expectations from the previous year and the rooms (Third one given as problems with the other two) were 'tired' and the housekeeping was definitely not up to standard. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, even providing us with an apologetic free afternoon tea and cakes that was very nice and The restaurant for our evening meal and breakfast was very good and the food excellent , but we will not use this hotel again despite our trips to the NEC. A great disappointment , but for a hotel chain that we have used in other parts of the country and found to be fine , this one falls well below the standard we expect on this occasion.

We also have an ongoing programme of maintenance throughout the hotel having recently completed refurbishment of one of our conference suites, the bar area and squash court.

We stayed at this hotel for a Birmingham visit and it couldn't have been nicer. We arrived at 10.30am and expected not to be able to check in, but the staff were very helpful and let us check in early for no extra charge. Our room was large, with french windows overlooking a grassy area. The room itself was modern, clean and tidy with a large bathroom with the usual free bathroom items and plenty of clean towels. Tea and coffee making facilities were also supplied and there was a large flat screen tv. We ate in the bar in the evening and the food was very good and pretty good value for the price, athough the service was a little slow and the staff seemed to be more interested in chatting to each other than actually serving. We had experienced the same thing in the afternoon when we ordered coffee.Breakfast was excellent, everything you could think of was on offer, and really hot and fresh, served in a lovely breakfast room and here the staff were very friendly and efficient. It took up around 15 minutes or so to drive into the centre of Birmingham and I would say it was definitely good value for such a luxurious hotel. I would add that the spa looks very inviting but we just didn't have the time!

My daughter and I wanted to stay here as part of a few days spent in the Midlands with family. We arrived 2 hours early as I hadn't realised how straightforward the route was, the staff were so friendly from the outset, allowing us to check immediately. We spent 2 hours in the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, then had afternoon tea in the hotel lounge. Later we relaxed in our room where we saw 2 very current movies. My daughter had room service, an excellent Greek salad and wedges, all beautifully done. The next day after a truly wonderful breakfast we joined a dance exercise class. Throughout our stay all members of the Ramada staff were extremely helpful, polite and friendly, we really couldn't fault any of them.We too got this deal via Wowcher, I can't see how anyone would be disgruntled, it came to £71 in total, not each, for everything. I agree that there needs to be a bit of renovation in places, the roof of the pool was a bit sad looking from the inside, the roof tiles inside the spa were loose in places, and our room needed a bit of paintwork,. However, much of the hotel was in great shape, the bathroom was great, the beds very comfortable, and a lovely view of the lake from our room. All the food we ate during our stay was excellent. I told the staff on departure that I would be quite likely to come back as a full price customer.
