“Excellent restored Victorian cottage”
Reviewed October 16, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Edith Cottage is a Victorian terraced cottage which has been restored and updated to a high standard with a good standard of decor, a modern kitchen and central heating that worked. There was a heart shaped chalkboard which said “Edith Cottage welcomes John and Sandra” and a welcome tray with a teapot and cups, some tea, and a choice of two cakes to sample. The instructions were among the best I have seen in a holiday cottage and there was a little history of the cottage which stated amongst other things that the cottage was named after the owner’s grandmother who used to work at the factory that was on the site before it was redeveloped. All nice touches. The cottage is very well placed near the centre of Taunton, the county town of Somerset, but it is nice and quiet as it is off the main road. There is reserved parking in a secure area at the back of the cottage accessed through a remotely controlled gate. We would have no hesitation in recommending Edith Cottage to our friends and hope to stay there again sometime.

We arrived to a very warm welcome from Julie who showed us around and left us a delicious homemade cake. The house was cosy and warm and had everything we needed.

Edith Cottage is most adorable and has everything you need for a wonderful holiday.
It is centrally located to Taunton town with all of it's shops and restaurants which made it perfect for our 2 daughters to go off by themselves.
We had a wonderful welcome from Julie along with a homemade cake which was much appreciated after our long trip.
Would definitely stay again for sure!!

“Loved this place!”
Reviewed September 7, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We stayed for 15 nights and had a wonderful time. The location was great as close to town centre and having off street parking was a real plus. The space was also easy to park in which was a bonus.

We arrived by train and hired a car. We visited so many different places Bristol, Monkey World, Longleat, Minehead, Fleet Air Arm Museum, Bath, Dr Who Experience, Bristol Zoo, Donkey Sanctuary and Vivary Park.

However the main focus of the trip was for my husband to see Somerset play cricket. Unfortunately the cricket wasn't great but it was so convenient for the ground which my husband loved. We also visited Straggler Coffee shop at the ground and the Cricket Museum - both fab!

Julie the owner was lovely and welcomed us with a lovely chocolate cake. We hope to stay again.

“Gracious living!”
Reviewed September 4, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Five minute walk to Kings College (for cricket festival) or, in the other direction, Somerset County Cricket Ground, and two minute walk to the shops and Sainsbury's. Quiet street though, nice area. Beautifully decorated, immaculately clean cottage with lovely morning sun through the large bathroom window! High ceilings, real sash windows, light and bright. Gated off-road parking was great for peace of mind with the rental car. We arrived early and Julie, who is really nice, very helpfully came as soon as she could to let us in. Stairs to bedrooms are a little steeper than normal but fine for us though. Comfy beds.
