Ended up here after place we were going to visit was shut, so glad we stopped. From moment we walked in we were made to feel warm and welcome. After a short wait (which we were informed of when we got there) we were taken through to lovely restauant.

Food was 2 courses for £12. Partner had the smoked salmon and was lovely and excellent portion size. For mains we had venison and fish and chips and portion sizes excellent and food lovely. Gravy for the venison excellent.

Good range of lagers, beers and ciders. Staff were amazing, espically landlady Nicky, so friendly and chatty and made us feel like we had a hundred times before. Would deffo recommend and will deffo return.

Have visited this pub twice now - primarily as they offer lunch for a fiver during the week! The choices for a fiver are great from ham, egg and chips, fish and chips to a lovely pasta dish and lots of others inbetween. You can also get some other dishes for £6. Very good portions and served very nicely on large plates. Not swimming in stale fat or straight out of the freezer. All produce is sourced locally, the ice cream (which is to die for) in fact made in the village (Stoke St Gregory)! A lovely host who is from Holland and so polite and friendly. The pub is not fancy but also not trying to be anything other than a local pub. Really worth a visit and lots of beautiful countryside all around to walk off that lunch! They also offer an evening meal for £12 for two courses - we have yet to try that but will be soon!.

After reading all the rave reviews we thought this must be something special, it's not. For £6.00 a meal you got what you paid for, it certainly does not warrant being ranked number two on trip advisor, not sure why!!
