“Fantastic glamping break”
Reviewed April 21, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Invited 20 friends to somerset yurts for husbands 40th and it was the perfect break. Emma and mark were lovely and welcoming and gave us a fab tour of the farm which the kids and adults loved. Plenty of space for games and barbecuing and evenings round the camp fire. Great memories....

“Relaxation in a warm and cosy environment”
Reviewed May 17, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Wonderful location, wonderful views, fantastic countryside and homely...
a warm and cosy weekend, with evenings spent by the BBQ enjoying a glass or 3 of wine..
The barn provides a freezer, fridge, oven, kettle, toaster and storage, cutlery, crockery..and everything you'd need, power showers, clean and tidy loos make the whole experience very enjoyable.
All Yurts were booked the weekend we were there, each Yurts is far enough away from each other to not feel like you are tripping over others...
Wonderful weekend, wonderful place and we will be back...

“Glamping at its finest!”
Reviewed August 22, 2012 for a stay in June 2011

Myself, my husband and 2 year old daughter decided at the last minute to go for a short break to Somerset Yurts, as it wasn't too far for us to go and we liked the idea of trying something a bit different. I believe that the site had only been open for a few weeks before we arrived and we were impressed by how well it was running already.

Emma and Mark were welcoming and showed us to our yurt. I was 5 months pregnant at the time and really appreciated the nice, comfortable double bed we would be sleeping in! There was also a futon sofa which we turned in to a bed for our daughter to sleep on, a table and chairs and some other bits of furniture along with a wood burning stove.

When we arrived it was raining and fairly cold so we got the woodburner going and the yurt warmed up quickly. We had a look round the facilities and they all seemed good - shower and toilet block, and a decent sized kitchen.

The second day we were there the sun came out so we were able to have a BBQ and relax on the decking outside the yurt, then in the evening we joined another family at the fire pit to toast marshmallows. My daughter absolutely loved the whole trip, and if you are worried about taking young children camping I think this is a great way to give them a taste of it but with much more comfort and space!

The site is on a farm in a lovely quiet area, you can sit outside and watch the cows go by and listen to the birds - so relaxing and a great way to get away from it all. Taunton is a short drive so there are plenty of shops, supermarkets etc nearby. While we were there we did a trip on the steam train from Bishops Lydeard to Watchet - the trains run all along the north Devon coast so you can choose your destination. It's fun for the kids and a relaxing way to get to the beach if you don't want to drive.

I'd definitely recommend a stay in Somerset Yurts, and when our 10 month old son is a bit older I'm sure we will return!

“Absolutely Yurt-tastic!”
Reviewed July 30, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

For our first 'Glamping' experience, this has encouraged me never to camp in a traditional tent with a sleeping bag ever again! We LOVED it!!! Emma, Mark and Will were more than welcoming and have thought of everything anyone could possibly need (definately with a woman's touch!) with skewers, tea towels, tea, coffee, glasses, pans, pots, foil, cling film...the list goes on. The Dutch Barn accomodates explicitly and has everything anyone may need in a home let alone in a tent or alike. On arrival Emma was there to greet us and showed us around with little Will, her not forgetting any detail at all.

The log fire is absolutely amazing! The Yurt's have everything in them you may need including a gas stove, barbeque, mats / rugs, table for two or four, little bed side tables, chest of drawers, mirror, electric, lamps, deck chairs, cool box - everything! We loved the location looking out of the Quantock's also and there are many lovely walks with wildlife to go on. The cow parade in the morning is very entertaining!

The games, 'to-do' leaflets and books in the Dutch Barn are excellent, from a selection of frisbee's (which I played very badly!) Monopoly, Jenga, colouring, everything! You've also thought well to provide wheelbarrows to carry belongings to and from the yurt, they were very handy!

This location is also very easily within reach of a few local pubs, local attractions and canals and supermarkets or shopping and not too far away from anything really!

This is a must visit 'Glamping' location and we'll definately be recommending Somerset Yurts to friends and family as well as returning again - Thanks Emma & Mark x

“Unique holiday in a beautiful countryside setting.”
Reviewed July 29, 2012 for a stay in August 2011

We stayed at Somerset Yurts at the end of July 2011. We were possibly some of their first guests. There were 7 of us in total (2 families) and we occupied 2 of the 4 yurts. The yurts we clean, well furnished and tastefully decorated. The communal areas were very good with only a few minor tweaks that would've made the stay even more enjoyable but on the whole for their first summer they did an excellent job and I feel they will continue to go from strength to strength and become a very popular glamping destination. The location is beautiful and tranquil and we captured some really special moments on camera in such a beautiful setting. I would recommend Somerset Yurts to anyone who loves the great outdoors, but who also loves the comfort and convenience of every day luxuries that you wouldn't get from traditional camping. The children had a wonderful time and I have no doubt we will stay at Somerset Yurts again in future and would happily recommend them to anyone. The Pientak family, Hampshire.

“Fantastic weekend with the kids despite a little rain. Kids loved it.”
Reviewed June 25, 2012 for a stay in June 2012

We had a fantastic weekend in our Yurt despite the rain.

The facitilities were very clean, provided everything you need (tea towels, detergent, all crockery, pots, pans, toilet paper etc...) they even had cafetieres for coffee which was above and beyond the call of 'camping'. If you need to cookany thing in addition to BBQ, the kitchen has everything. You need only bring the food and drink you consume.

The fires in the middle of the yurt were toasty warm and very easy to operate.

My 8 and 6 year old were in heaven running around and roaming the fields whilst still safe and within reach of their 'very relaxed' parents! They loved sleeping in comfort with mummy and daddy. Even the rain drenched evenings were lovely sitting by the door of the yurt chatting ( toasty warm and dry thanks to fire) whilst the children amused them selves behind us.

The site is positioned just behind the beautiful grounds of Hestercombe house which is just a 'stones throw of a walk' through the fields. The kids loved walking with wellies through the waterfall. I would also recommend Hynde House for more great walks with the kids.
Our hosts were lovely and very approachable and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.

Although the facilities of taunton are very close by, I would recommend a huge supermarket shop beforehand so there is no need to hassle yourself with a shop half way through. There is a fridge and freezer to put everything in!

Another thing to bring if you have kids are several torches. We took 'head torches' and the kids had endless fun running around the fields with torches whilst we sat out under the evening sky.
Don't forget the frisbees, footballs and any other things they might like as the field in front of the yurts are 'cropped' and great for the kids to play in.

My only criticism would be the showers. They are very powerful and the shower cubicle tends to get very wet and slightly flooded along with your belongings. They could do with more hooks to hang your clothes off the floor.
