I have now visited The Farthings on several occasions but never left a comment about the restaurant which is excellent, Shaun the Chef grows many of his herbs and vegetables as well as rearing Pigs, Turkeys, Chicken and Guinea Fowl in their own grounds so all the Pork, Turkey, Chickens, Eggs etc are from the back yard can't get much fresher!
After a wonderful afternoon relaxing in the lounge at The Farthings, I strayed into Taunton last night to have dinner at what is reputed to be the one of the best restaurants around... championing local produce etc, so all the reviews stated.... sorry but it failed to impress.
I can honestly say that The Farthings does a much better job but needs to let people know, hence my first ever comment on their restaurant rather than the Hotel. So I had lunch today in their restaurant over looking the front lawns with it's bay and fig trees... The traditional Roast Striploin of local Beef was excellent and the service from whole team was impeccable... my friends and i had coffee in the lounge afterwards and felt throughly satisfied and a little reluctant to start the drive home... but hey we have to go away, so we can look forward to returning.
In summary.... give it a go, evening dinners or a weekend luncheon never known it to dissappoint!
