Visited here on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Wakefield. Easy to find within the town center depending on the time of day parking is plentiful and reasonable. if you fancy a 'pub' drink before visiting the restaurant there are plenty of local pubs serving a fine selection of beer all within short walks of this very pleasant grade 2 listed building.
A bit like Dr Who's Tar-dis this small building opens up once inside where its decor is tasteful and attractive and commensurate with its age and history. There is a small bar downstairs and seating for diners both upstairs and on the ground floor. don't be fooled by its none opening 'front' door access is via a courtyard to the rear ....
we took advantage of the 'early bird' menu.....slightly restricted and available till 7pm there is something for everyone on it and when comparing the prices after 7pm presents VERY good value for money.
We both ordered the starters and Steak based mains....the meat was among the best i have tasted and the service and presentation excellent.
the restaurant is open lunch times aswell with a similarly 'attractive' priced menu.....
we felt under no pressure to vacate our table and mid week the place was busy but not uncomfortably so
all together an excellent dining experience and we shall definatley be going again
