“Perfect Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2014

My sister and I always stay at what we call it "The Hotel in the Park" Perfect location, surrounded by greenery, pleasant staff and superb eatery next door. Perfect for families, couples and even in your own.
Each time we visit relatives we always stop here, usually ask for the same room. Can not fault the place and believe me I would if I could. The rooms are reasonably sized and priced, adequate towel, tea etc. beds great!
If I were in the trade, I would say "Do not delay and book today"
Then you can write your own review. Hope it helped.

We stayed here for 2 nights 24 & 25 April. Reception staff were pleasant & check in was quick. Room was fine & looked the same as any premier inn we've stayed at. Unfortunately we didn't realise until we tried to sleep that the bed was awful! The springs could be felt and we barely slept - I ended up in the chair at 2 in the morning. We explained at reception the next morning and asked for the mattress to be changed - they couldn't do that as the mattresses are ordered in? I'd have thought they were all the same size but our only option was to change rooms which we did. Breakfast was ok however the floor in the dining room still had last night's dinner on it which wasn't pleasant. A quick brush up would have sorted it. Tables were set with breakfast cutlery but not wiped! Then on both mornings the cleaner started up the vacuum - really? This is the closest premier inn to Wakefield but having stayed at Premier Inn Wakefield South about 15 minutes walk further out - there is no comparison! We don't expect 5 star at these prices but this hotel lets premier inn down.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere

Just as it says - our stay wasn't bad but it wasn't the best Premier Inn we have stayed in either.
Reception staff was friendly and the room albeit a bit dated spacious. We also got woken up the fire alarm going off and a rather noisy probably intoxicated woman shouting down the corridors.
Went back to bed and fire alarm went off again about 15mins later..Thankfully no interruptions the second night. We had both our evening meals in the pub, both very nice and reasonably priced but we were disappointed with the breakfast and several times we and other guests had to ask for the coffee to refilled. The orange juice was empty too and the server walked past it several times without refilling. Also, I though it was rather bad manners for the serving staff when on their way to the kitchen to kick the swing door into the kitchen open each time as it was disruptive, noisy and well, just not very pleasant while you were trying to have your breakfast. We opted to have breakfast elsewhere the second morning. On the plus side we had chosen this hotel for its location and you are indeed very quickly into Leeds and/or rural Yorkshire/Derbyshire.

Typical Premier Inn, but it's setting in a pleasant park makes it stand out. Three floors, no lift. Reception staff very welcoming. There is a Greene King pub restaurant attached which serves dinner up to 10pm. Food and drinks selection was very good. Would stay here again.

We stayed for 3 nights on a short family trip. The hotel is located in a park with a kids play area, duck pond and aviary. The attached pub also has a lovely outdoor area and kids climbingframe. We enjoyed breakfast each morning and an evening meal on two nights. The service was acceptable and the food of good quality. On one morning my daughter asked for soft boiled eggs and they might as well have been raw. This is my only gripe with the restaurant.

The rooms were standard Premier Inn, however there were some unusual stains on the carpet that were immediately obvious and should have been cleaned. I have marked down for that.

Apart from that it was a good value stay and I would stay again.

So I had a moan on the forum about our rubbish stay at this hotel at the weekend and decided to leave a review.
We were woken both mornings by the fire alarm , 7am and 5.45am , not good ! Doesn't start your day off well.
There's obviously problems with the system!
There were problems with the hot water , I had a warm shower but the water was cold when hubby got in . Only to realise there was only one bath towel , so we had to share.cold shower and a wet towel mmmm not good.
I asked for a fresh towel on our way out for the evening but on arrival back found none had been left, so I had to go back to reception to get a couple.
Not a problem , but I was still a bit annoyed at not being able to get a nightcap at 11pm at the bar !
We did try to speak to the bar manager but he wouldn't come to see us.
So make sure that you arrive back early if you want to have a last drink before bed , and you need to go to bed early for the early alarms .
I've stayed in a lot of premier inns but this experience wasn't good.
Perhaps it's because it's a franchise ?
On the positive side the room was nice and big and the receptionists pleasant.
We left on the Sunday very tired , we should have complained but we just wanted to leave.i didn't want a repeat experience as with the bar manager.
