A lovely little place serving excellent food, good coffee and delicious looking cakes. It has a terrace to eat outdoors or take-away too. Own cooked salmon, ham and beef are all very tasty. Salads with the salmon were also lovely. Will definitely return

ive visited deli quite a few times now,and ive never had a bad meal there.

the prices are what you would expect to pay for top quality produce, sourced from as many local suppliers as possible.

on my last visit there,i chose the yorkshire platter-which comes beautifully presented on what looked like a thin slab of slate for a plate-very swish, but the food matches the presentation too-tasty ham served with artisan cheeses, pickles, crusty bread, and a choice of various salads-i was asked what i would like on my plate-but i chose to let the staff decide-and they didnt let me down.

my companion had a salad, pretty much the same, just a bit less of it being as she isnt as greedy as me!!

all washed down with some english breakfast tea, presented as good tea should be-in a warmed cup, with a strainer, and a good sized pot of tea to go with it.

as ive already said-the price for this mean ran in at just under 20 pounds-not cheap-but not prohibitively expensive either.

its a good spot if you like people watching-situated as it is on one of wakefields busiest pedestrian walkways-the ''bullring''

i have no hesitation recommending it to people who appreciate quality food, served by friendly and helpful staff, and with consistently high standards on every level.

expect to pay more than you would in some of the surrounding eateries-but like so many other things in life....you get what you pay for.

Limitations on time for lunch mean that this venue is the best in easy reach. Damned by faint praise, possibly. The issue, as ever, is front of house staff.

Maybe it's just bad timing on my part or that I expect too much for my £10 budget.

Today's episode was a member of staff being 'coached' as to where and how, to put the food orders. The coachee demonstrated her understanding by performing subsequent tasks accompanied by tuts and clattering of chairs. Calm resumed when the pressure of more than one customer ebbed.

If I got a wiggle on, I could possibly make it to The Handmade Burger Co. Maybe I should give them a go on a lunchtime.....

Again, as ever, nothing wrong with the food and coffee remains so-so.

Popped in for a coffee for a cake. Nice area to sit outside, and the inside is very clean and contemporary. The menu sounded very appetising and the food offerings in the chilers looked lovely. This place is not your ubitiquous Wakey greasy spoon! It is very much a cut above that! They also sell some lovely bottles of wine, jams, chutneys etc. our coffee and fresh leaf tea was lovely, and the carrot cake was v nice! I noticed that they offer afternoon tea and also some wine tasting events. The only slight niggle I'd have is that the service wasn't overly friendly. This wouldn't stop me returning though.

Pleasantly surprised to find somewhere that serves lovely fresh produce in Wakefield. Lovely teas and cakes at a good price point. I rarely visit Wakefield city centre anymore due to the lack of nice places to grab lunch or snacks. A really pleasant surprise will definitely return.
