“Sunday Lunch Success!”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch of roast beef and all the trimmings! The beef was tasty if not a little overdone and slightly dry. Everything else was perfect and great to have 5 different types of fresh veg. We both had clean plates, so they must be doing something right! Very quaint and cosy pub, with real log fires and a good selection of real ales and wines. Staff were pleasant and friendly. We thought it was good value for a quality roast dinner at £9.95, so we would return. Heath is a great place to visit for a walk, and what better way to end it with a pint of real ale at this lovely pub!

“Real fires and gas lights”
Reviewed November 1, 2013 via mobile

Decided to call at the Kings for tea, what a good idea, it was fab. Black Pudding and Bacon salad to start, Chicken with Stilton and Mushrooms for mains and to finish, home made Bread and Butter Pudding, mmm gorgeous! It was a lovely evening to end a busy working week, thank you!

“Lovely pub and amazing food”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

I have eaten here before in May 2013, however, came back again in October with the husband after a long walk. Firstly the pub is amazing. All lit up by candle light and log fires. The staff are so friendly and let you get to sample the ale's before buying. The food was amazing. The husband got a burger, which is by far the best he has had in some time and I got the chicken and leek pie. The pie was stuffed with chicken and was not disappointed either.
We can't wait to come back again with the family. Definitely recommend eating here or at least sampling the local ale.

“Probably better on non-Sundays”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

Went here having read one or two positive reviews and seen the pub on a previous visit to Heath. The snag, I think, was that our visit was on a Sunday. The menu consisted just of three [bland and very pubby] roasts and a pasta dish which doesn't compare with what appears to be on offer at other times in the week. The desserts were very poor and overpriced.

We sat in one of the wood panelled, gaslit rooms. Very atmospheric with interesting old pics on the walls but a bit uncomfortable and gloomy and the table was too small for the four of us.

Heath village - "the village of the mansions" - is absolutely fascinating so the Kings Arms was very convenient. For me, though, it's no match for the outstanding tea room next door!

“Such a great place but...”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

This is such a great old pub in a great location but on visiting today we were disappointed with the food. We had to wait a while, which is good because you get the impression that it's going to be cooked from fresh. We were a party of four people and I think the Steak & Kidney pie was the best bet - my sister-in-law had the chicken which was very dry and I had the haddock with ale batter. The fish was pretty tasteless and unfortunately the chips weren't "straight out of the pan". If they are cooked from fresh then they'd been hanging around a while. On the plus side they have a fantastic selection of real ales and they do have open fires although, unfortunately they weren't lit today. The manager would say it was because it wasn't cold outside but it was very dull and miserable and an open fire always looks welcoming and cosy so, for my money, I'd light one every day !! We would go again in the hope that the food was better next time. I have only given "Average" for the atmosphere as it could have been enhanced if the fires had been lit.
