Went for a birthday Lunch. Good plain pub far with plenty of choice, Not Gourmet but not at all bad. the experience made more pleasurable by helpful and courteous staff in particular the waitress Charlotte who remembered our special cake and went out of her way to be helpful

Got married on the 10th August 2013 - small wedding at Nostell Priory Church - wanted a friendly, intimate meal with family and friends. I had previously enjoyed a meal (trial) with a friend, before booking the entire restaurant area for a party of 40 guests.

I chose the meal I wanted to provide for my guests (2 choices for each course) and a pimms reception, I worked with Aggie (the Manager) to pre-plan the table settings and menu choices, etc. so we both knew what was expected and her advice / suggestions were helpful

I had an absolutley fantastic day, the meal was superb, the staff were on the ball but you hardly noticed they were there.......Aggie quietly oversaw the whole thing.

Each and every single guest has expressed how fantastic the whole day was and how much they enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere - the rib eye stakes (the most popular choice) received rave reviews - even from my Dad as it has to be right!!

Well done and a special thank you to the Chef and kitchen staff who can not be faulted, they produced 40 covers, over 4 courses on time and to perfection........if you have any doubts give it try - you won't be disappointed!!

Thanks again to all at the Kings Arms - Mr & Mrs Grason xxx

We called in for a drink the other night after a meal out in Wakefield.

Wonderful place. Lit by genuine gas lamps and candles. Made up of lots of little rooms all adjoining the bar.

Had a few drinks and just sat back and enjoyed the atmosphere. Seemed busy when we left at 11.30pm!

Would like to go back and sample the food to see if it lives up to the character of the place.

Good Osset Gold beer. Solid fare - Chicken and leek pie absolutely crammed with chicken. Sauce in pie could have been thicker though. Chips nicely browned and sweet.

We have called in for a drink a couple of times and have enjoyed the range of real ales immensely. That sadly is where the good news ends. We had a couple of reasonably priced rump steaks that were mediocre at best, served with 1/2 a beef tomato that swamped the plate, some soggy mushrooms and sad chips that were undercooked on the inside and very dark on the outside. Chef you need to change potato variety this time of year. The menu stated the steaks were served with a rocket salad, all we got was limp oakleaf lettuce. All this I could have let go I suppose because the beer sort of made up for it. But the thing that really got me was when we arrived we were ignored by the landlady when we went to the bar because she was deep in conversation and had to wait for the barmaid to come free and then when I went back for another drink the barmaid nudged the landlady to get her attention to serve us and she rolled her eyes and tutted. Well I am tutting now as I write this.

Potentially this is a great Pub and still well frequented but it could be so much better. Note to landlady and Ossett brewery read what the trip adviser reviewers are saying about the service and attitude and act on it before its to late.

Must just give some credit to the waitresses they were polite, helpful and attentive
