Without question Amala deserves the accolade of ranking first in the ‘league tables’ of Wakefield’s best restaurant on Trip Advisor. We have visited Amala more times than either of us can remember over the past 12 months but we feel now is a worthy time to remind the avid Trip Advisors out there that a gastronomic diamond nestles on Cross Street in Wakefield city centre.

Goi and Shanti are the most congenial hosts in Wakefield, their affable nature would win great culinary awards in bigger cities. If delicious Thai food is what you are after then look no further, Amala is the hallmark of oriental freshness and ingenuity.

If six stars were awardable on Trip Advisor then Amala would receive them, we really cannot rate this restaurant high enough.

Pay Goi & Shanti a visit, you'll be impressed.

Big fan of Thai food so was very eager to try this place out.

Found the food to be very nice, and was happy with the value. The restaurant decor was very nice, but they seemed to want to point this out too much bby having very bright lighting which, to me, doesn't suit Thai food. It felt like somewhere that was trying to be trendy. The service was good, but in the end the lighting put me off.

I would go again, but I would probably take sunglasses!!

From when you walked in , a service with a smile. We wanted a set meal for two, however we wanted to change a few of items on the menu, this was no problem at all. The manager asked what did we like and adjusted the menu accordingly. The food was absolutely amazing, from the coconut and chicken soup to the hot spicy king prawns, the food was fresh and left the palate clean. We relaxed after our food and finished our wine, no rush to leave the restaurant. Well done to the staff for making this an outstanding experience. Will visit again soon.

We went here on New Years Eve (we hadn't booked but this wasn't a problem) The service here is top class, and the food was even better! The waiter helped us pick our meals and suggested a 'mix up' of the dishes. I had duck for starter and red snap fish for my main - although this wasn't actually on the menu. I had it with a mango sauce - it was absolutely scrummy. It's a little pricey but nothing over the top - two of us had two courses and 3 drinks and it came to around £55 Decor wasn't top notch, but that became irrelevant one the food arrived. Great place.
