“What a welcome!”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

As we were going to a wedding at the Yorkshire sculpture park we wanted somewhere to stay as near to the venue as possible. This B&B was on the list recommended by the gallery and, as it was only a ten minute walk away, we thought it would be perfect - and it was. Vicky was so helpful beforehand with directions and also in assessing what time we would want to arrive to dress for the wedding. On arrival we were enthusiastically met by Jeremy and Bronwyn, the dog. The room was comfortable, clean and had everything we could want. We didn't use the visitors' lounge but the next morning we had a full English breakfast with Vicky in the kitchen/dining area. It was superbly cooked and the ingredients were local. I also liked it that we shared the table with the other guest so, rather than quietly whispering to each other, we had a lovely long chat with everyone. We haven't stayed in a B&B for years but this is certainly somewhere I would wish to return - especially with such an attraction as the Yorkshire Sculpture Park on its doorstep. It was also exceptional value.

We stayed for one night at The Old Manor House, and I cannot thank Jeremy and Vicky enough for their hospitaility. They
offered recommendations for local restaurants, things to look out for at the sculpture park, and provided excellent maps to get to the local sights, including the excellent new Hepworth museum. We felt very welcome, the house is gorgeous, and the breakfast delicious! I would definitely recommend this cosy B and B, and would not hesitate to visit again. It was perfectly located for the sculpture park and the Hepworth museum.

Lovely B&B with very friendly owners. For only £25 a night per person our room was excellent and very well presented. I've stayed in many B&Bs previously which have charged significantly more for a much poorer product. Breakfast was also very nice - cooked on an Aga which is always a benefit.

We've just returned from a very brief stay at the Old Manor House in West Bretton, and only wish we had been able to stay longer. Vicky & Jeremy gave us a warm welcome in their lovely house, with an exceptionally comfortable beamed bedroom ensuring a good night's sleep. The breakfast was delicious and perfect for us as vegetarians - the eggs from Vicky's own chickens are especially recommended! We really hope to return some day, perhaps for a longer visit to the Sculpture Park and Hepworth museum. Many thanks to our hosts, it was a treat to stay here!

Very friendly reception by Vicky and Jeremy who cook an excellent breakfast and welcomed us again to their comfortable and tastefully furnished small B&B near the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the Hepworth Wakefield and the Leeds Moore Institute - everything that one could wish for near the sculpture treasures of Yorkshire.
