Me and the family went on Wednesday night when we arrived we where hit by offers there was 2 or 3 course specials for £8.95 & £10.95 on every day but tonight was curry night so me and the wife went for that it was gorgeous and you could tell it was homemade, the kids had fish & chips of the children's menu again it was good quality and freshly battered not a thing left on the plate which is always a good sign. Think we will be visiting again very soon might even try the 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £25 on Tuesday

An evening out for a meal with the family planned at the last minute. Phoned up and booked a table with out any problems. Greeting was friendly and warming. Food was quick to arrive and met all of our expectations. Three courses for £12 quid on offer with a good selection from the menu.
I would definitely return and mention it to friends.

We decided late one Sunday lunch time to go out and eat instead of staying in and thought we'd give this a go.

Although it was fairly quiet - only a few tables taken outside and another 2 or 3 inside, we got a warm welcome and were shown to a child friendly table.

Once we'd ordered the drinks came swiftly and we didn't have to wait too long for the food - always a bonus when we've a 2 and 5 year old!

And the food was fantastic, the steak had been cooked to perfection and you could taste the flame, my daughters fish had been freshly made and was the best we've had for a long time, expecially given it was a "kids meal" and our sons chicken bites were fab - again freshly home made and delicious.

All in all a really, really good meal with no pushieness, from the staff.

Will definately call again!

Turn up at most places at 5 to 2 with a Border Collie in tow and you'd rightly expect to be going away hungry. Make one of your party vegan and two more vegetarian, one a wheelchair user, at a country pub, and you're hoping for some sort of minor miracle.

Well, we got one.

A search for dog-friendly pubs turned this aptly-named pub up and with the uncertain weather of a Yorkshire summer, being confined to the beer garden wouldn't have been a great prospect - as it happened we did start off in the garden, enjoying the sun - and then retreated to the cosy dining room when the rain inevitably arrived. Our collie was indeed made very welcome with a bowl of fresh water arriving with our drinks - a nice touch!

The wheelchair access here was excellent, with a series of gentle ramps providing access to the entire building, including a spacious accessible toilet which was clean and uncluttered - no highchairs or staff coats in the way is noteworthy in a rural pub. Plenty of parking on tarmac, not gravel, also helped us get in easily.

The food was really excellent. Unpretentious, well executed and in (very!) generous portions. We started with potato skins and breaded mushrooms, all fresh and tasty, and then had the gammon, penne with mushrooms in a fantastic white wine sauce, and a goats-cheese omelette. All tasty and well cooked - great examples of fairly simple food done very well. We finished off with a shared raspberry (Eton?) mess, the best example I've ever tasted of my favourite pud, and can only regret that we were all too full to further explore the dessert menu! £43 the lot including cold drinks and coffees is impressively good value.

We were well looked after by a very friendly and helpful chap whose name I missed who really was a star - we only realised an hour or so in that they'd usually close up after lunch for a bit but instead just kept feeding us wonderful food in friendly good humour! Properly good service there - thank you.

So, to summarise: dog friendly, excellent wheelchair access, good food, good value, outstanding service. We couldn't have asked for better.
