Even in November the grounds and castle are well worth a visit. Even the gardens were fairly colourful and, with a careful eye, allow you to learn a lot about how a walled garden really works and what it supplied in the distant past.
The guides here are wonderful: difficult or unusual questions are answered even if it requires contacting another guide for assistance, but most have an intimate knowledge regarding their surroundings, particularly the less obvious features.
Better still is the manner in which they explain even complex things carefully, particularly the structural changes that were made in the past and their effects, for example on the food service to staff and owners.
This was our second visit but, for some reason, it was much more rewarding than our first years ago - perhaps it was the time of year?

This was a lovely day out after a perfect weekend in the area. The gardens were simply beautiful and perfectly kept. The tour around the the castle was amazing and although a lot of restoration work has been done it is still a work in progress. What has been done is remarkable and the guides are very informative and helpful. Altogether a “lovely day out” and yet another English piece of history to round off a perfect weekend.

We called in when passing but unfortunately it was too late to gain admission to the castle. Although in theory the shop was still open we were told we couldn't go in as it was closed as was the cafe, Not very friendly service. The castle and grounds are very impressive and I'm sure worth a visit.

Raby Castle was a nice visit. The Castle is one of the few that you can see the finished restored inside instead of just ruins. The gardens are well kept.

Beautiful gardens & parkland. Kids did the Halloween trail which was really well thought through. Ate in the cafe which was excellent. Service in the ticket booth, cafe & shop all excellent. Lovely place for a family day out with the dog, will definitely come back soon.

We're so pleased that you enjoyed your visit today and look forward to welcoming you back soon, perhaps for our Christmas shopping evening next week? Or maybe in December for a craft workshop, Fireside Stories with Father Christmas, the festive trail and crafts in the Winter Wonderland, or perhaps to buy your Christmas tree, we have lots of festive fun going on!

A fantastic day at Raby Castle - we’d recommend! Stunning grounds and a lovely cafe - great service and very helpful staff. We enjoyed the Halloween trail around the beautiful gardens which was ideal for younger children (all under 5yrs). We would also recommend finding the hidden woodland playground - a great addition with the castle as a backdrop. We’ll be back!

Thank you for your feedback. It is very disappointing to us that you felt this way as we want all of our visitors to experience nothing less than five star service and value for money. We will certainly be looking into this as we constantly review pricing.

Took my 8 grandchildren here today for the Halloween trail , ranging in ages from 4-14. The gardens and the deer park are beautiful but the Halloween trail was shocking ! You can’t just hang up a few plastic spiders and string a few cobwebs about and call it a trail. It kept them amused for 2 seconds and then they were bored , previously have visited for Halloween Thorpe perrow arboretum and its amazing, yes more expensive but worth every penny ; even Kipling hall can give them a run for their money ,, my advise don’t bother

We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed by your recent trip to Raby Castle. We have worked closely with the local Forest School to put the trail together and the majority of feedback we have had, has been very positive about the wood etchings, informative boards and the amount of time it entertained children for. We do of course take all feedback on board though and the children's activities are an area that we are wanting to develop and improve, so we will bear your comments in mind.
