After reading mixed reviews about this pub I went with an open mind. I was met with a warm welcome by a very friendly young lady who turned out to be the landlords daughter. The evening just went from strength to strength. The starters were well presented and the mains followed with a nice 10 minute rest between courses as we asked for. We planned on puddings but just couldn't manage after the large portions we had eaten. The 2 for 1 discount was just the perfect end to a very enjoyable pub meal. So 3 x 2 course meals, 3 pints lager & 2 soft drinks came to £38.00. That's £13 each so these reviewers who are slating this pub need to remember your not rating a al a carte restaurant with an average £45 per head. Your rating a well presented and run pub who are serving good quality affordable food. Keep up the good work and don't let the negative customers spoil you growing reputation for good food and hospitality.

We live locally - and would love to have the Heiffer as a good local eatery, but the food is never up to scratch. If the kitchen has more equipment than a microwave, fryer and griddle I would be very suprised.
What the place needs is a chef / owner who can put some good quality local food on - you know, stuff that's actually cooked - not just heated up.
We keep giving the White Heiffer a try, but never come away satisfied.
There are much better choices in town - although I have to say, not that many - we've tried most of them.
The White Heiffer is just one of those pubs that are managed houses and part of a large group who are more interested in quantity and profit over quality.

It's a nice pub and the the staff are pleasant - Ok for a drink with friends - then home for a takeaway!

Ate here last week with relatives, and first impressions were that it would be microwaved meals with fresh cooked chips. When there are upwards of fifty menu choices plus a specials board of about 20 more, it can only be microwave fayre!

Generally, the decor is a carbon copy of so many similar new build "pubs" trying to look olde worlde but it is clean and spacious enough. The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout and couldn't be faulted.

I have to say that the food was better than I had expected. It was indeed direct from the microwave, but was actually decent enough. The only thing I wasn't sure about was how much beef was actually in the beef burger as there was little need to chew!

Overall, with a 2 for 1 deal on main meals all day every day, making a main course work out at an average of £5 - £6 each, you shouldn't expect Michelin stars! It is what it is, and in my opinion they do it ok.

i went 3 weeks ago and ordered salmon that was microwaved to a point it was uneatable. The potatoes tasted like they had been cooked, frozen then microwaved. Worst meal i have had in ages.
