We were keen to introduce to friends who are great entertainers with food and wine and who like us have high expectations.

We were all impressed.

We are big fans of L’Enclume ... but here we have a comparable if not better experience ion our doorstep.

The aesthetics are much improved ..sharp clean and understated!

The service was impeccable..enthusiastic without being pushy or obtrusive...totally professional.

The food was stunningly good... every course!

Inventive flavours, perfect amounts, beautiful presentations, good pace and all presented on a variety of beautiful plates and dishes.

We took the wine flight... an outstanding selection of wines presented with aplomb and knowledge... first class.

We thought that Gravetye had the top spot but I feel after last night’s meal the accolade goes to the Raby Hunt.

Forget the naysayers and their moaning about price!

This kind of food with the skills required and the sourcing required costs money!
You know what’s on offer ... a tasting menu not a la carte. You can get ordinary for ordinary prices... this is exceptional.

Worth every penny.

Would we return? Yes as often as we can!

Thanks for a memorable evening.

Ignore the sourpusses who shout “over expensive” and “Darlington”. We are privileged to have this 2 Michelin Star restaurant in the region. (Yes that’s 2 Stars). And. Oh my does it deserve those stars. Wow

The food has to excel. It does. 14 courses. All varied. Taste sensations all. Service is 5 star professional too. Going there is an event. It’s cosy and personal. And it’s not expensive for what you get. Try going South and getting such value for money.

It's all very well having Michelin stars (deservedly) but having eaten at The Raby Hunt we emerged feeling satisfied, no, impressed, by the quality of the food. Clearly the proprietor has a business plan but no matter how good the food was it didn't represent good value for money. I'm fortunate to be wealthy enough to afford the opulence of restaurants like the Raby Hunt but we left with more than a feeling that we had been overcharged. This is a shame but the sensation was strong enough to discourage us from returning in a hurry.

Wow Wow Wow
We visited Raby Hunt to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. I booked The kitchen Table not knowing what I was booking. Result! We were sat overlooking the kitchen. A small room with only four seats literally right next to where the food was being prepared in the heart of the kitchen. The fourteen course taster menu was sensational. Each course was explained to us however nothing prepared us for the amazing food that was served to us. Raby Hunt certainly deserves the two Michelin stars. The kitchen was calm and well organised and the chefs works non stop within an immaculate kitchen. My favourite courses were the taco which was a taste sensation a tiny taco filled with crab and avocado which literally changed flavour as you ate it and also the artichoke course was amazing. My husband added the wine pairing and had a few Kir Royale. We also had a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrating the Anniversary of the second star. The staff were fantastic the Head Chef came over to talk to us at the end of the evening. We only heard of the restaurant while looking at a list of Michelin star restaurants otherwise we wouldn't have heard about this absolute gem in The North East. The food, atmosphere and service all deserve the five star rating I've given in this review. We'll certainly be back!
