Description: independant family restaurant on Poole quay with views of poole harbour. One of two restaurants (the other one is called Coffee Club Westbourne) All the staff work very hard to provide a good experience and hope that you enjoy your visit, and return to visit us again. We are committed to providing a good experience for the local people of Poole which is our main aim, and of course providing a good experience to Poole Quay for visitors, so that you will return.

When in Poole try this place food is freshly cooked and portions are more than adequate and if your on a tight budget go for the lunchtime menu 2 courses for£9.95 more or less the same meal you get in the evening but not even two thirds of the price .

The Oriel is one of the best kept secrets in Poole with many loyal clients. The food and service are excellent and prices are such that it may be frequented as a regular treat and for special occasions. What makes this restaurant are its host and staff - always smiling and attentive to the needs of its clients, while the food speaks for itself. What is hard is being willing to try something new given that you still have memories about how good your last choice was - my current favourite is the vegetarian omelette. We have never been disappointed with the Oriel whether that is sitting outside on a sunny day with great food and drink to watch the world go by on Poole Quay or to retreat inside with the lovely ambience surrounded by painted frescos. Lovely people, great food and value

This is our favourite café/restaurant to take visitors to.
Situated on the quay. It has a lovely atmosphere and you are treated as a guest from the time you enter until you leave.
There is a wide variety of well presented foods and the staff are only too pleased to cater for coeliacs and those with other food allergies.
Because the food is freshly cooked there can be a short wait at peak times, but the wait is worth it.

I've been going here for many years, and despite trying other eateries from time to time, we always end up going back here. Either for a meal, lunch or just a drink out front overlooking the water. I was tempted to say nothing about this place because it can be hard enough to get a seat at times as it is, but thought it better to be fair and share! What do I like about it? We'll the location - great for people watching; the staff - friendly but not in your face; the food - simple, not pretentious, well presented; and not over priced. Simple.

I visited the Oriel for a weekend lunch, there were 4 other tables dining. After being pleasantly greeted and sat at a table we ordered tea that did arrive promptly and our order was taken. We waited 40 mins for our food....suprising as we ordered omelettes. The food eventually arrived and in all honesty was inedible. The omelette may well have taken 40 mins to cook as it was like rubber, dry and difficult to chew. We did not eat our meals and explained to the waitress that they were awful. We then spoke to the manager who was rude to say the least, incredibly aggressive.
I have worked in hospitality for many years and never have I come across such poor customer service.
I have also taken the time to read through the responses they have given to their poor reviews, and with that in mind would like to make it clear that I am a genuine trip advisor member and gladly give credit where it is due. I am suprised that they would rather dismiss and discredit anyone that has received poor service, instead of apologising and making positive changes to their business.
I will never eat there again, and would advise others to avoid.
