“Great ambience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

Been here once before, and not dissappointed yet. Decided on the set lunch menu, which was good value for money and yummy. Only one small grumble...... the mussels weren't available on our visit and no substitute had been added to the set menu. Still a very good lunch though.

“Finally Ate Here, Did Not Disappoint”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

My wife and I came to the area for a family get together, and had a late lunch on Saturday 17th. There wasn't a table ready, but we sat and had a drink.

Now, I've driven past this restaurant so many times since its been there, and it was well worth the wait. We ordered a glass of champagne each and oysters, a classic combo, superbly executed. For mains we both had haddock and chips, both agreeing the haddock was cooked to perfection. It was superb. Good chips too! Our waitress Nat was bubbly and very friendly. A great start to what was a great weekend.

Highly recommended. If you, like me, have driven past many times, try stopping....

“Very busy and patchy service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2013

The restaurant needs to sort out their staff as there was either two serving you or none at all. We waited ages for a drink at the table and eventually managed to catch a waiters eye and get a drinks and food menu. We asked for our battered fish to be extra crispy and it was a bit luke warm and soggy. I suspect, by the speed between ordering and delivery, that it had been cooked a while ago and was lying around.

“Still excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

Have visited several times but this visit stood out. Delicious starters - potted mackerel, smoked salmon pate and herrings, only comment is that not enough toast for the amount of mackerel or salmon in the jars. Delicious gilt head bream with scallops and clams. We all had to have the twice cooked chips which are exceptional! Unfortunately, didn't have room for desserts, just coffee. Friendly and efficient service. Look forward to our next visit.
