We visit Poole a couple of times each year, and have always stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, but decided to try here for a change.

Asked on booking for a top floor room with a view of the bay and got what we asked for. Downside though was that ain't a lift so the stairs were a bit of a challenge but we coped. On checking in we were offered help with our luggage, must be starting to look old!

As ever the twin was spacious, clean and well presented. No air con but a very good freestanding fan was welcome. Enjoyed bird watching over the bay whilst waiting for the wife to get ready!

Had breakfast every morning in the adjoining Table Table restaurant, staff here were quick, polite and nothing was too much trouble. I would imagine that the breakfast service is a less enjoyable experience at busy times and weekends, but we were very impressed with it all............although it was an "all you can eat" deal it was a bit pricey, but a good start to the day. We did not try the restaurant at night, it did appear to be popular and busy, despite the World Cup and the long sunny evenings.

The hotel sits alongside a busy dual carriageway and there was some traffic noise, but nothing too disruptive to sleep. I must say that we never heard any noise from within the hotel itself. It was a good 15/20 minute walk into the centre of Poole, but we tended to drive, park and walk as we know the town well.

We enjoyed a fabulous few days, the weather was great, and we enjoyed visiting Swanage, Christchurch and Bournemouth.

I cannot envisage going back to the Holiday Inn Express which has lost some of its allure lately. The last time we went it was very busy, and dominated by a coach load of Welsh pensioners and was only slightly cheaper than the Premier Inn deal we got this time. We will look forward to our next visit to Poole and this Premier Inn.

Dear wobbler63,

Thank for writing such a detailed account of your recent stay with us. I'm glad we didn't disappoint and you had a good stay. We're planning to have a lift installed near reception within the next 6 months that will help make trips to the first floor that little bit easier. We do try to accommodate all requests for particular rooms wherever possible.

I am glad you also had an enjoyable time with our restaurant partners in the Holes Bay Table Table. You are correct in that it can get very busy in the peak summer months, but the team do their best to adapt the busy conditions.

Hope to see you again soon.

Kind Regards,

Mark Perkins

We stayed with family for 2 nights short weekend break. This hotel is short walk from town center, bus and train station. Like most Premier Inns you get very good and friendly staff, nice good size always clean rooms, big unlimited breakfast :-) and what I liked the most was great and quiet location.

They might not honour your reservation.
If they don't they won't apologise.
The hotel is located in an industrial wasteland, some way out of Poole.
The people are very nice and friendly, but not helpful.

Dear Selby John S,

Thank you for your comments about your recent stay. I am sorry there appears to have been a mix-up with a table booking in the Table Table restaurant. Without knowing the exact details I am not able to offer an immediate explanation as to what may have happened.

We are located approx three-quarters of a mile north of Poole train station and a twenty-minute walk from the town centre. Around two-thirds of the rooms are on the Holes Bay side, whilst the other third face Sterte Avenue West. The area behind the hotel formally housed a car dealership before demolition around two years ago. This does indeed mean there is a large empty plot behind the hotel.

Once again my apologies for the confusion with your table booking and I this doesn’t put you off using Premier Inn's or our restaurant partners in the future.

Kind Regards,

Mark Perkins
Premier Inn Manager.

We stayed on Saturday night. There was a fan running in our room when we arrived and a sheet in case the duvet was too warm. What really impressed me was the full length mirror and 2 comfy chairs. We have stayed in 4* and 5* hotels with no full lenght mirror and only 1 comfy chair in a double room. The staff were friendly. Dinner and breakfast were good.

Dear summergee,

Thanks for your great review and really positive comments on your stay.

We acknowledge it can be warm in the room so we have done everything we can think of to try and minimise the impact this heat has on our guests. I am glad you appreciated this and also the additional amenities we have added in the room with the furniture.

I hope we can welcome you back again soon.
