“Great mix of people and food”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

Popped in for lunch with the wife, in abit of a hurry so only had a snack. My wife had the cheese platter which had some lovely pickled pears on it. I choose the venison scotch egg from the board at only a fiver . Lovely food, great wine list, good selection of real ale . But i had a ice cold cloudy lemonade because of driving. The place was filled with a good mix of people from ladies who lunch to couples and small groups. We will return one evening to sample the dinner menu and the wine list

“Great lunch”
Reviewed November 9, 2013 via mobile

Have been here a few times as it is very local to us. Lunch was great we both had freshly made sandwiches mine roast beef and my husbands pulled port. Very tasty and fat chips on the side perfect. Good value for money, great service and choice of wines. We will be back.

“Smoked”
Reviewed November 4, 2013 via mobile

Very nice looking restaurant, well finished decor, unfortunately our food wasn't up to much, they have a some kind of charcoal oven, all I could taste was a strong barbecue smoked taste, smoked roast potatoes were not nice, when I mentioned to the waiter he seemed surprised but finally tried one and agreed they were very smokey, anyway, didn't enjoy no discount was offered even though we weren't happy, will not return.

“Excellence”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

People who follow my reviews will know I do not pull punches, I tell it how it is. So here is my review of this newly found eatery. The first thing that pleased me was when asking if I could bring my dog in whilst I ate, was met with a resounding Yes (she is only small) with the proviso that I eat a at large table in the bar and not in the restaurant. They even gave us a bowl of water for the dog. Enough
Whilst at first glamnce the menu seems priced at the upper end of the range, when you see the portions and the quality you will appreciate the real value for money. It was that good we had to visit twice in one week (considering we travel 50 miles to get there must say something).
The first night we had a meal from the specials board succulent belly pork with spiced winter green and mash with sauce and all for a tenner. Last night the first thing I checked was the specials and yet again was pleased. Whole lemon sole with green beans saute potatoes and caper sauce for £17. my daughter had the same and my wife the Jenkins & son burger. which we were all impressed with, the chips were more like sticks of kindling wood, tasty and serve with mayo. Asb you may be aware I travel Europe extentsively and try every type of food and restaurant and Yes Jenkins has to be placed within the top ten beating Jamie's Barbarossa by at leat 20 places
