“Amazing location...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2013

We had five nights at this hotel...the location is amazing, the back of the hotel leads right onto the beach and you felt that you could be anywhere in the world, the view of the sea was stunning, there were plenty of tables and chairs to take in the view if you so wished. There were lovely beach walks from the hotel and you could either use the path or the beach itself. If you wanted to do so you could walk to bournemouth from the beach it's about 2 1/2 miles by road so you get the idea of the distance. For reference poole is also about 2 1/2 miles in the opposite direction.
Our balcony room on the other side of the hotel looked over the bay and to poole in the distance, it was a fantastic view and it felt like being overseas! Our room was more like a suite, sofa, two chairs etc,. Tea coffee facilities and two sink bathroom. It was a clean, tidy room with all you needed.
The hotel itself is coming to the time of a bit of updating, the reception area, bar and lounge space was quite adequate although carpet on the lift walls was a bit strange. The dining area was very bright and spacious and all staff ie: reception, bar and restaurant were all very friendly and helpful.
Our only criticism of our stay was the evening set menu? Why! Yes, the first night we stayed we had a meal and the food was lovely but it wasn't what I wanted to eat, I wanted a steak but there wasn't anything like that! On one of the nights we had room service and you had a really good choice at a very good price and you had a lot better choice and steak etc,. Our room service food was fantastic and if they could do flame grilled etc, in the restaurant I think they would make a killing and we would have eaten there most of the time, but you will love the buffet breakfast, full English or continental, superb!
To round up it was very reasonably priced with a very big balcony room and superb setting with being central to a lot of attractions.

Room Tip: Our balcony room overlooking the bay was lovely, don't be put off if they offer you that as sea...

If you order a club sandwich from this hotel make sure you open it up before you eat it.
We ordered two. When we started to eat it we discovered that the bacon portion was 65%cold congealed white fat.
We showed the duty manager, and he agreed.

Poor quality from a supposed quality Hotel.

My husband and i stayed for one night with a groupon offer. check in was easy and the staff were very helpful.after a long trek to our room i was pleasantly surprised ! it was very big and spotlessly clean. the bed was very comfortable.we had a drink on the lovely terrace area which overlooked the beach.we had to ask the reception staff where the menu was for evening dinner .she said that the menu hadnt been put out yet ,if the menu had been put out earlier than 4.30 pm then maybe we would have eaten here instead of going else where .after returning from our meal we had a look at the beach again and was surprised to find our empty glasses from 4 hours earlier still on the table ,also alot of other tables had dirty empty glasses on aswell.
had a good nights sleep and breakfast was a buffet style ,all very good.

A warm welcome awaits at this hotel from the reception staff and the initial impression is very favourable. However, the decor needs updating as it is rather tired and dated. The door to the balcony in our bedroom was ill-fitting, and needed sheets of newspaper inserted into the gaps to stop it rattling in the wind and to keep out the draught which was cooling the room considerably. There were no wi-fi codes offered on check-in, nor were there instructions provided in the room for internet access or the use of the television. The only menu available in the beautiful restaurant was a very limited Table d'Hote selection, with only one vegetarian option and three further main course choices. The starters and desserts menus were equally limited. The food was beautifully cooked and well presented, but the service was more fast food than fine dining. Crockery and glasses were removed from the table before food was swallowed, and the three course meal lasted less than an hour. The restaurant is very spacious, but the few diners in the room on the night we ate there were all bunched together in one small area, so we we could hear clearly everyone's conversations and the result was a less than relaxing evening meal. This hotel has four stars but, in my opinion, does not reach the standard expected of a four star establishment.

The location is great, very close to beach. The hotel facilities are average, but not good enough to reach 4 star standard. The staffs around were very friendly and helpful.

However, internet connection in the room is a JOKE! We can never catch a signal in the room and also the 3g mobile signal was very weak in the room. If you rarely use internet then this might be a good place to stay with reasonable price, but if you do NEED some internet connection to check emails, watch youtube videos or check facebooks, DO NOT stay here! We spend three totally internetless nights here and can't wait to back home.

In addition, as a 4 star hotel, there is no mini-bar and bottled water in the room. This place is overrated.

Overall, I will NEVER come back again otherwise the internet connection is strongly improved.

Thank you for your review Ting L, it is unfortunate that you experienced problems with our wifi network in the hotel. We are currently in the process of upgrading our wifi systems which will improve the signal throughout the property.
All public areas in the hotel are fully covered including all outside terrace areas. All rooms are covered, but some will have a weaker signal than others. This however is being addressed and will soon be vastly improved.
I hope you return to us especially since we will boost our maximum available bandwidth for our guests by using 2 fiber optic connections in the future.

We have just come back from a weekend at this hotel. Having never been to sandbanks and we didn't know what to expect. The family rooms were great and the kids had their own room. This was a first for us and they even had their own telly.
The service made this hotel stand out from anything else we have stayed at.
Ok it is a little rougher around the edges than others in their chain but this has character and staff who really go that bit further.
We did eat in the restaurant and dinner was great too.
You also have free use of the Haven hotel just 10 minutes walk away. This was awesome.
We swam in the outdoor pool.
The breakfasts were to die for and the kids were well looked after.
As it was half term there was a lot for the kids to do. There are great cafes just next door too.
All in all this was the best family break we have taken.
Bad points:
Pool a bit small.
Too many good points to mention.

Room Tip: Family rooms with separate kids rooms are a must
