An excellent setting for a break. Wonderful views from all outlooks. Attentive staff, very quick service at breakfast and dinner .Nothing to fault with the rooms except perhaps for the noisy 'pipework' just outside our bedroom window (Room 329 standard double) which made it impossible to open the window which was unfortunate as the weather was extremely hot. Whilst the noise lessens at night there is still a rumbling sound.

Car parking can be a problem in the hotel car park, but if full ample parking outside but that comes at a cost. We felt that we should be offered vouchers for free parking if necessary, this is the norm in many hotels that we have stayed at.

Room Tip: Avoid 3rd floor overlooking Poole harbour due to 'noisy pipework'

Arriving at the hotel , then had to find a place to park the car in the very busy car park. We then checked in with a receptionist called lite who was very hard to understand and who i found very rude! Other receptionist staff was very welcoming and smiley which was good.

we were in a room which was on the 3rd floor , this is not ideal for old people as very far and lift only goes to the second floor. we was offered help by these young gentlemen with our luggage to our room ,who was very nice and helpful during our stay. The terrace is wonderful and was very nice to have a drink on as the sun was shining and had beautiful views. later on in the night we got room service which was very nice and quick.

The room was nice and had no problems during our stay. only bad point was the balcony was a little messy and dated. Unlike the room which was nice and refurbished and clean.

I would stay here again as its a fantastic hotel and the location is amazing , just a few things need improving.

We booked this hotel before we read Tripadvisor comments. So we set off a little concerned.

Reception was friendly and efficient, Throughout our stay they were most helpful and could not do enough to make our stay pleasant. They were informative.

Our room was large with a lovely view of the beach and English Channel. The king size bed was very comfortable with lovely soft pillows. The room had a sitting area with a small settee, armchair and table. The storage space was in a small alcove. We were very pleased with the room.

The bathroom was also a good size with excellent lighting. There was plenty of hot water.

The air conditioning did struggle to keep the room cool but the temperature outside was 33 degrees C.

Staff in the restaurant provided an excellent service. There was a good selection for breakfast and the evening menu changed each night. The food was very good and the wines were well priced.

The terrace bar, alongside the beach, was a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sunshine . Drinks service was good but food service was slow. I could not understand why this bar closed at 9pm. On warm summer evenings it should stay open whilst customers are about.

We had no problems parking in the hotel car park.

This hotel has a wonderful location and it is worth staying there just for its direct access to the beach.

One can always find a few faults but many of the reviews of this hotel are unjust. We had a very enjoyable stay, the room, the service, the food, were top notch

Room Tip: Some rooms face the open sea others face Poole harbour. Both views are very good. The hotel only has 3 floors and rooms on higher floors are quieter and have better views.

we always stay at the Haven but were unable to do this for last weekend Friday and Saturday, we knew the Sandbanks was under the same management so felt secure this would be another great stay,,,,, The Haven is superb, fabulous service beautifully presented and great location;

On a beautiful day we arrived and went straight to reception. OMG what a difference scruffy and with the most ignorant reception staff I have met in a very long time !!!!!! we were totally ignored deliberately we felt so that they could continue with whatever they were doing undisturbed, eventually we were told we would be dealt with in a minute by a very surly young woman who was clearly working alongside an equally rude manager ( blue suit) Already wishing we had gone to HDV in Poole we booked in. room not ready so we went for lunch.. THe saving grace really friendly bar staff a view to die for and ice cold drinks served with a smile.

The room was overlooking the sea and was ok, clean and tidy but in need of maintenance, the patio door was taped as glass appeared to be fractured, the balcony was tired but the location is what sells this place, the owner clearly knows this and nearly £500 for 2 nights for a 3 star hotel ( this is not 4 star ) is steep when a club sandwich is 12 pound and a glass of prosecco is 6 pound it has to be stunning for so many people to want to sit there and pay those prices in less than comfy chairs and ropey tables.

Despite this we had an amazing time and whilst we would only ever go back to The Haven we loved the hard working staff, I would however sack everyone on reception except Lite who was charming, professional and 4 star all the way she is a credit to her employer and shows the rest of them up by miles,,,

Room Tip: book a sea view room or you will never forgive yourself for not doing it

I stayed with friends for a couple of nights with a special offer and we had a fabulous time. We had booked at The Haven but had to be moved. It wasn't a problem and the room we had was amazing overlooking the beach on the 3rd floor. The food was excellent and the staff very pleasant and helpful. With the beach so close and a heatwave... we couldn't have wished for more. It is a fabulous location, I really hope that I can return next year.

Room Tip: I think I had 316 or 317, but it was top floor at the end. Fabulous big room with a large balcony and glass all along the end of the bedroom with sliding patio doors. Lift only goes to the 2nd floor and it is a bit of a rabbit warren trying to find your room... but once you get your bearings you can find the most direct route up. It was well worth the walk for the room and view!!
