“wow what a view”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

The haven is a great hotel, traditional in its approach to good service but modern in the decor of its rooms, well mine at least. Make sure you get a seaview so you can sleep with the sound of waves lapping below your window and wake to the soul enhancing sight of the studland peninsula. Truly a first class location, there's everything you could wish for at breakfast and an outdoor pool as warm as stepping into a bath. Rooms spotless and spacious. Wouldn't hesitate to return - just watch out for those cross channel ferries going past the window when you've just stepped out of the shower !!!

Room Tip: Make sure its on the seaward side

Fantastic views and lovely hotel. From easy and fast checkin when our cases were whisked to our room, until equally easy checkout and cases brought to our car, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Always polite and smiling the reception and restaurant staff couldn't have been better. Breakfast was superb and on the 2 nights we had dinner (had to book table) the food was 1st class. Definitely recommend - in the sunshine it was even better!

What a disappointment this hotel was. Arrived and couldn't park the car as car park full, had to wait ages for a space. Then too worried to take the car out during our stay in case we couldn't park on return. Service and management very poor indeed. Impossible to get served in the bar, mostly ignored. Kids' facilities non-existent despite website implying there was plenty for kids. Watersports Academy is NOT on site and in fact you need to book well in advance of your stay for any watersports with them (not told this on website or when booking). Bedrooms tired, no fridge, how they get a 4 star rating I don't know. Location, pool and beach are great though, but they need to make a lot of improvements with the rest of the hotel and the service.

We have just had our wedding reception at the haven. Now, I know that all bride and grooms say the venue for their reception was wonderful but I will be totally honest with my appraisal.
From start to finish we have had nothing but fantastic service from staff that all look happy in their work. Nothing has been too much trouble. Even when we had a slight hiccup with our room, it was sorted straight away and with no argument. we spent a couple of days at the hotel and all the staff recognised us whenever we were strolling around. The food was just delicious and I am generally very hard to please when it comes to eating out. All my guests made a point of saying the same. Breakfast in the mornings was very very good. a good choice and nice and hot.
In summary, this is a very lovely 4 star hotel. Yes, a little money could be spent on SOME of the decore but all of the public areas are very very nice.

My wife and I stayed in the Haven for a week in September and had an excellent holiday overall. The rooms are of a good standard very clean, good size and very good bathroom/shower. The drawspace was slightly limited being the only negative.

The bar meals menu was somewhat limited but the restaurant itself offered a high quality meal, the decor and comfort factor were very good.

Spa and pool facilities in the hotel were excellent as was the treatments my wife had as part of the services offered (Manicure).

Parking was sometimes difficult within the hotel perhaps due to the popularity of the hotel.

Great view and great location make this a great choice for Poole!

Room Tip: The harbour view with balcony comes highly recommended.

We stayed two nights and had a large room overlooking the car park. The decor was very tired, with stained carpet and lino in bathroom past its best. However, we dined in the new-looking restaurant both nights and had superb meals both nights - and the design allowed us to converse easily even though the restaurant was busy. The waiting staff we excellent. Breakfast buffet was a treat and kept replenished. I'd stay again, but maybe splash out on a better room overlooking the sea.

Room Tip: try to get a deal on a sea facing room

I can't imagine a better location for Sandbanks - right on the sea with fantastic views. Our bedroom was a little disappointing for the price (dated furniture etc), but perhaps we were unlucky. Good bar food served and a popular restaurant with an emphasis on local seafood- again in a great setting

Room Tip: Although more expensive, a sea view balcony!
