“Fantastic views and service”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

A friend and I stayed in June for two nights, fantastic views from this hotel, good parking facilities, friendly staff and although we didnt pay the extra for a harbour view our twin room was spacious and clean (very soft mattress) the breakfast was excellent with great choices, really convenient location to all Poole, Sandbanks and Bournemouth have to offer, would definitely use this hotel again.

We stayed for 2 nights for a wedding and it was stunning. The views were beautiful service was great, staff friendly. It wasn't cheap but we didn't feel it was overpriced. Would definitely be the first place we would try to get a room if we were staying on sandbanks again.

We stayed here for one night having been told by the Sandbanks Hotel it's sister hotel that we had booked into, was overbooked. We were offered an upgrade to the Harbour Heights. The room had a nice view of the harbour and was a good 4 star standard. The restaurant was lovely inside and the decking area outside was wonderful. Breakfast the following morning was lovely. Unfortunately the service in the bar in the afternoon was poor, very slow and not particularly helpful. However the service from the reception staff was excellent, so I think some customer service training needed in the bar area. To note for people walking, there is a very steep hill up to the hotel from the road at the beach.

Stayed just for two nights back in Jan 2013 whilst in the area for a family occasion.

Food - nice. We only had breakfast on this visit, but I've had lunch there on a previous visits and the food had been good.

Rooms - comfortable, clean, in good condition with a modern bathroom. Only slight criticism is we were on the top floor and had slanted walls - its a personal pet peeve so didn't ask to be moved.

Staff - friendly and helpful.

Location: views are fantastic over the sea and just a ten minute walk to the beach.

Everything you would expect as standard for a hotel with a 4 star rating.

I have visited this hotel on a number of occasions to enjoy excellent cocktails and take in the magnificent panoramic view of Poole Harbour from the hotel terrace. I visited last Saturday to attend a small wedding function and noticed that their Trip Advisor rating of excellent is proudly displayed in the lobby. However, on this occasion they fell considerably short of that rating. The food served should have been excellent, but it appeared that it was either the chef's day off, or the chef wasn't very good. It was as though someone in training had been handed a challenging menu and then left to get on with it. In general, food was overcooked. Steak served medium rather than rare, fish cooked until dry, hard and floury. Peas like little rocks from the beach. Potatoes tough and unyielding. My overcooked fish went back and the fish that came back ten minutes later was properly cooked, but was still swimming in the same "consommé" (stock cube inspired) with the same peas and potatoes. The "fresh" smoked mackerel starter was a grainy pulp. The tiramisu was actually no better than the one prepared by my daughter at school the week before. However, it was a wedding and it was not appropriate to complain. For the person who had paid, it must have been really upsetting to hear muted comments of "yes, it was lovely" at the end of the meal, as I'm sure that it wasn't cheap. Returning to the car park where our car was parked correctly in a space, we found that our car had been boxed in by cars not parked in spaces. A search for a driver to move one of the offending cars then followed. Meanwhile, the rest of the wedding party went on to the next event. Eventually, a hotel "regular" was found and let us out. Would I go back? Yes, but only for cocktails and that view, oh, and I'd walk next time.

Just spent five nights at Harbour Heights Hotel. The hotel is in an ideal location for the beach and walking into Sandbanks. The room was clean and comfortable with a view of Poole Harbour which is a definite. The lounge and terrace have magnificent views which is lovely to see whilst enjoying a glass of wine. Ate here for dinner once and the food was very good. What let's this hotel down is the service with the exception of the reception. Service for both breakfast and dinner and even getting a drink on the terrace was very slow indeed and much improvement is needed. Having said that I would still go back as the location and views are well worth it.

Booked a 2 night stay in this 4star hotel, upon arrival the room we were given was far from 4 star... I've stayed in better B&Bs .. It was dated with worn carpets bed linen falling to pieces run down bathroom ... We complained and were given " a complementary upgrade" to. Newly refurbished room ... Wow we thought ... But alas no... The room may have been refurbished but they didnt do the bathrooms! Still a similar old rundown bathroom that was in the first room! ... Didnt eat there, to annoyed about the room. breakfast was on .. The tables didnt have any cloths on so were worn and scruffy ... Was like a school meal .. They got the tea and coffee, you have to get everything else... And queue.. So to tound it up we leafy after the first night.... And went home .... Won't get me back there in a hurry
