“Overcrowded, dangerous place!”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

I was only once in this pub and will never come back. The pub is overcrowded with no care to health and safety at all. I burned myself there before even I get to my first pint. The owner saw how I got burned and promised to cover all the costs. He never contacted me. I guess £50 (my jacket had a huge whole and sweater was also burned) is more important for him than dangerous accident. I contacted authorities to check out this place as it might be still dangerous. I don't mind the money but it would have been a nice gesture.

“Nice atmosphere - will avoid dining at weekends in future though”
Reviewed June 9, 2013 via mobile

Went here with GF on a Friday evening. Service was excellent. Good selection of wines and lagers. Food was ok - had nachos to share then both had a Chicken Caesar salad. The acoustics of the building meant that it was almost deafening though as the place filled up with Friday night drinkers. A large group congregated next to our table and we were literally shouting to talk to each other.

Would drink here at a weekend and perhaps try eating again mid-week. However, Friday night dining - definitely not!

“Good all round pub”
Reviewed May 25, 2013

Decided to visit here on a Sunday for several hours as we were having a meal and a few drinks.

I went here before it changed hands and must admit I preferred it more then.......now it's too much of a restaurant than a bar.

That said i had a lovely roast dinner and enjoyed people watching as there are a few pretentious society freaks that frequent this place.

Good selection of beers/spirits/wines and prices are nothing out of the ordinary.

Handy getting off the train and this is the 1st pub you see.

“Fun pub at great location but needs help”
Reviewed May 22, 2013 via mobile

It's such a shame that a pub used by people as much for its food as it's atmosphere has such poor food, no excuse, fire the chef.
