Ranked #44 of 50 Poole B&B and Inns
Reviewed September 5, 2008

I would not recommend staying in this B&B if you can help it.. here's why:

We had a phone call from the owner of the hotel the day before our arrival stating that she would not be there to greet us and that her friend was looking after the place for her until she got there the following day, which we had no problem with.

We firstly couldnt find the B&B and actually parked in someone else's driveway thinking it was the B&B as there are no CLEAR signs to say that it's a B&B, there is a VERY SMALL sign on the gate post.

There is very limited parking, we had to manouevre to get in, only really space for 3 cars if you block everyone in.

We were told on arrival we had to take our shoes off each time on entering the house to keep the nooise down for the fellow residents (all the floors are made of wood). Even with slippers on it was impossible to keep the noise down whilst walking up and down stairs.

We booked the room specifically because it was advertised as having a mini fridge and SKY TV. We were taken to our room and we asked about the fridge as there wasnt one there, the friend of the owner stated that we could use the communal fridge in the kitchen downstairs, nothing would be taken. We didnt like this, but had to use it as we had some perishables.

We looked at the bathroom and it was VERY unpleasant, there were pubic hairs all over the floor, there were bits of paper in the shower cubicle, there were stains on the towel rail, the toilet seat looked dirty, the sink didnt look clean, there were toiletries that had been left by the previous occupant, there was a pubic hair in the bed, there were other hairs in different places in the room, there was a hair grip on the floor and dust all around the room.

We turned the Tv on and it had a SKY TV remote control, but there were hardly any channels, not even the basic SKY package. There were even less channels than you can get on freeview.

The welcome pack was badly put together with food stuck between the pages.

The only good thing about it was there seemed to be clean sheets and towels (although dirt around them, so who knows).

We decided that it wasnt the problem of the friends that were taking care of the B&B, so decided to stick it out one night until the actual owners got back the following day.

We had breakfast the next day, the cooked breakfast was swimming in fat, so much so that my partner felt ill and couldnt eat his. I was ok with mine as i had requested only sausage, bacon and scrambled egg.

We discovered that some of the items we had put in the communall fridge had been opened and used, which we werent happy about. There was a couple staying there long term who seemed to use the breakfast food for the lunch pack ups.

When the owners arrived back that evening we spoke to them straight away, my partner told them that the room wasnt clean, which they didnt believe. The owner (Lynda) said "what do you want me to do about it?" Which i thought wasnt the right response in the situation. We asked to be moved from that room, to which we were told they were fully booked and couldnt do this. We then asked for a refund on the remaining nights we had paid for up front. We were told to pack our bags and leave, abruptly!

Lynda disappeared very quickly and left her new husband to deal with the situation, we asked for the refund again and it seemed like he wasnt going to give us any money back. We, thankfully, were able to get away quickly as we hadnt unpacked at all.

As we left, the husband made a quick check of the room and gave us our remaining money back.

In conclusion, this B&B is DEFINATELY not the 4 star it is advertised as having, the stay was miserable for us and we would definately NOT recommend anyone go there. Alot of the website makes it look really nice, but the garden was a complete mess and overlooked by a car park behind the property.

Think twice before booking into this hotel, for £69 a night, it's definately not worth it!
