“Good food at good prices”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

Pre-booking is a good idea. Sometimes you only have a choice of specific times for a table if you phone on the day and these are too early or quite late. But there is always a lovely "buzz" in the restaurant. Staff are friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. They will try really hard to seat you exactly where you would like to be - waterfront view or one of their cosy (and comfy) benches and tables. Upstairs is not as attractive although great if you have a large group and want to sit somewhere more private. You can choose from a set price menu which is very good value (2 or 3 courses) or a la carte, which is offers more choice and some interesting dishes. You can also choose from both menus. I always find there are dishes "I wouldn't cook at home" which for me adds to the treat of eating out! And sometimes there is a specials board too. A good balance of informal but high quality where it matters.

“BRILLIANT”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

We visited on a Tuesday when the fixed price menu is only £13.95 for three courses! (£5.00 cheaper I think than other nights) with only a little less selection. Started off excellent in my opinion by firstly bringing a jug of iced water, then bread basket with oil and balsamic. All ordered different starters; soup, red onion and goat's cheese tart and a chicken and bacon terrine which were all excellent. Mains were also very substantial with good helpings of vegetables. Puddings - sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie both served with ice cream and both generous and glorious!
Good location and ambience, which I can only guess is nicer in summer, efficient service (considering how busy they were). Word of warning - book in advance as numerous people were turned away on our visit. This restaurant is obviously popular and deservedly so.

“Very nice”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

I happened to be staying at the Salthouse Harbour and took a walk along the harbour stumbled across this restaurant and they had a Tuesday offer of a three course meal for £13.95.

Very good value and very nice meal would recommend this restaurant.
