Stayed for 2 nights on a Friday and Saturday. Hotel is beautiful with lots of quirky, eclectic art scattered around the public areas. Our room was wonderful - right on the front overlooking the harbour with a little balcony. Building has kept it's traditional structures - bare brick walls and steel girders but been given a contemporary makeover. Staff very helpful and friendly and parking is free - always a bonus in a busy town centre. The waterfront seems to be a work in progress - there are new bars and restaturants but also older buildings that have fallen into disrepair but it is easy to walk into the main town too.
Breakfast was excellent and we also decided to have dinner in the restaurant one night as it has a great reputation. We were not disappointed - food was exceptional and service friendly and informal.
The coast and pretty inland villages are all within easy driving distance and there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. Ipswich wouldn't be the first place to go for a weekend break, but if you do go then there would be no better accommodation choice than here!More
