Who would of thought Ipswich would have this little gem! We stayed here for our wedding night and was wowed by the service and attention to detail! Beautiful room with huge bed and lovely decoration! The free toiletries are heavenly as is the copper bath! Our breakfast which was bought to our room was huge and delicious! Staff all polite and friendly and really made us feel special!

Boutique Hotel set on the docks overlooking the harbour, the hotel has used interior designers and therefore obviously look good inside and outside. However designers tend to be young and not to be real people and when you do use designer rooms, bathrooms, furniture such as chairs and tables they are uncomfortable for the human body and inpracticle in use. The bedroom floor and table top becoming room storage as there are no drawers provide in the modern design. The staff were great, the car parking was done by the staff and free, wifi was free into all areas. The breakfast is by far the best hotel breakfast I have had in a lifetime of hotel breakfast, with fresh tasty ingredient wether they be the croissants, fruit or the grill. We stayed for a few days and overall were very happy with all things, we did use the restaurant but was not really happy with the description by the chef on the menu of a classic dish and what actually arrived by design. It will certainly suit the modern executive but for thoses who still like a tablecloth perhaps we should dine elsewhere. I was asked twice if everything was OK and offered a refund on my choice which in fainess I declined but accepted a brandy to shut me up instead. I would recommend the hotel to anybody and it give quality customer services with staff who do actually care.
The dock area is now very popular and I must comment about the pub next door which play very loud music until closing time 11-12 pm and then some after noise, it has a very large outside covered drinking area, and is therefore immune to weather, and as the Salthouse Hotel does not have AC it is impossible to have windows open and sleep, the only remedy is being in the pub next door until closing time.

Room Tip: In summer get a room away from the pub next door.

This is an amazing hotel beautiful rooms large and spacious we were lucky to get a front view out onto the harbour with a balcony . The breakfast was out of this world and if you wanted more you only had to ask, the only thing that let us down was waiting in the lobby to get served a drink and we hit it ourselves in the end, but we would certainly return.

Just back from an overnight stay. We had a great room overlooking the harbour. Very clean with a lovely modern bathroom with excellent toiletries. Only complaint would be the carpet in the room. It did need replacing or given a thorough clean. Pity as everything else was fantastic. Excellent staff. Everyone was polite and helpful. The breakfast was lovely. Good quality ingredients. I recomend the pancakes beautifully light and fluffy. The town is within a 10 minute walk. Certainly a hotel we would recomend and are keen to return to.

Room Tip: Try to get one that overlooks the harbour.

at last i've found a british hotel that makes you feel a wanted and valued guest. service here is totally first class throughout all members of staff. ask and you will receive. room large and very well appointed with classy toiletries etc. breakfasts were to die for with as wide a choice as you could wish for and all beautifully cooked and presented. don't fret if car park is full on arrival as staff will transfer your car to a local car park temporarily and the hotel picks up the bill. would recommend staying here 100% but you will need to book well in advance as it inevitably gets very booked up. lastly a big thanks to all the staff for a great short break.

Room Tip: they are all good

Just spent a weekend at this hotel , we had a great time the staff are a credit nothing is to much trouble, negatives over the weekend we had a phone call from reception on our second night wanting to change our dinner reservation from 7.15 to 9.15 because of a wedding party we reluctantly agreed whilst sitting in the lobby I mentioned this to the duty manager as it was 8pm and quite hungry he took us through straight away and the rester ant didn't feel that busy so i don't know what that was all about! Our only other negative is we feel the hotel could do with a lounge bar open fire etc we felt the only bar is at the front where people sit while waiting for their table or taxi when leaving a more established bar area would de the icing on the cake especially for residents, never the less we would love to return the hotel is spotless rooms are wonderful we was lucky to have a balcony the youg lady who was housekeeping was delightful , all in all well worth a visit for a special treat , water cookies coffee all in room hairdryer plenty of hangers toiletries . Oh the food nearly forgot. Fantastic portion sizes large ,

Room Tip: We had a standard salt house room the view was fantastic,

The Salthouse Harbour hotel is a gem of a place. Great room, well furnished, quiet and a wonderful view of Neptune Harbour. Breakfast (a la carte) is among the best you can get and with locally sourced ingredients of exceptional quality. Public rooms stylish and contemporary. Parking at hotel is limited.
Harbour area has a number of good bars and restaurants but outside of the immediate vicinity it all looks a bit dodgy and depressing. The development is sizeable but building seems to have come to halt with a number of unfinished projects. However, you can happily stay within the harbour area for a couple of days or so or venture into the town centre for some decent shopping.
