Stayed at the Holiday Inn Ipswich which was the perfect location for us. Daughter was playing golf at Stoke by Nayland only a 20min drive from there and pretty central for everytghing else.
We had an issue with the room when we first arrived but the staff were excellent. \\\\\\\\\\\\you are given the managers personal mob and email. I used both and he responded and fixed the problem. Thanks Paul !

The hotel is typical holiday inn of the 70s which has done its best to renew into a modern one. Rooms are spacious, bar the cramped bathrooms, and have good facilities.

As it's out of town it's quiet, but obviously that means taxi rides into town if you want somewhere else to eat or drink as there is nothing within a 15 minute walk other that a retail park. Depending on which cab firm you use it's under a tenner to get in and out of town.

The restaurant serves the standard menu of a Holiday Inn but also has specials, which give variety.

Breakfast is the standard buffet fayre of hot and cold. So you can have a full English. Buy you breakfasts in advance at the desk when you check in or you'll have to pay more.

A nice touch is the free coffee/tea in reception in the morning in takeaway cups so you don't have to visit a coffee shop as soon as you arrive wherever it is business takes you.

Third time staying at this hotel. Very good price for the night but breakfast was expensive at £9.50. Room was comfortable but bathroom very small. Reception excellent, pool and gym very good, but the service at the bar later in the evening left a bit to be desired. Personal service seemed to be beyond the barman. Never the less I would stay here again.

The reception staff at this hotel are unfriendly and patronising. There was a hiccup with our booking which although they resolved they took great pains to loudly explain that this was our own fault and we should have rang them despite booking online. They made another guest apologise to them because she wanted a room with a bed for her child and told her off too! The room was fine, comfy bed, decent shower, quiet. The housekeeping staff were friendly and hardworking. There is nowhere in walking distance for a meal or drink but a cab to town is six pounds. The pool is nice but he changing rooms are disgusting. The shower was dirty and wouldn't turn off almost scalding me. I didn't bother reporting it as quite frankly i didn't want another run in with reception. The hotel is good for days out, Felixtowe is very near and a lovely seaside town.

Spent 5 nights on B&B basis; we had 2 criteria;a good base from which to explore the seaside towns along the Suffolk/Norfolk coast and we wanted a gym available on site; this hotel fit the criteria. Staff were very helpful/friendly; breakfast/restaurant was solid if not exciting, and the pool/small gym were fine for our daily dose of exercise. We booked an Executive room which was ok for the price we paid although bathroom pokey (couldn't really get two of us in there at the same time!) and if you are going to upgrade be aware their suppliers pick up laundry from the back entrance to the hotel (near the executive rooms) around 7.30am weekdays and 8am weekends. We had realistic expectations when booking and it was a good competitive rate given bank holiday weekend so we were very happy with this hotel. Tip: if you fancy eating out locally without travelling far, try the Beagle (good pub food), recommended by reception.

Spent 3 nights on a dinner/bed and breakfast rate. Great value for money having booked direct with the Holiday Inn website. Room more spacious that we thought it would be - queen bed and sofabed for our daughter. As previous reviewers have mentioned the bathroom is rather small, but for how long you spend in there it wasn't really an issue for us. Tea/Coffee making facilities (but no fridge which would have been nice to keep drinks cool), trouser press, large flatscreen tv and air conditioning (which was welcoming as we had hot weather throughout our stay). There was a nice pool with spa, steam and sauna, which was lovely to end the day in. Breakfast on two mornings was full buffet, and the other morning when the restaurant was quiet was cooked to order. Nice choice of cold fruits/cereals/cold meats and cheeses/full fried breakfast and toast/croissants/danish/pancake machine. Dinner in the restaurant was lovely - we thought it was buffet (but this was only for the coach party staying) you get to choose from the menu with items marked with an S. There was prawn cocktail/soup of day/cheese topped mushrooms and smoked salmon tart for starter. For main was sausages & mash/two different burgers/chicken kebabs/coronation chicken and one vegetarian meal. For dessert chocolate nemesis/ice cream/caramel apple granny or cherry bakewell cheesecake. All food was nicely presented and tasted lovely. In the lounge area there was a Starbucks (much to my daughter's delight) and free wifi (although 2 out of 3 nights we had trouble getting it). Hotel was ideally situated about 10 minutes from Ipswich town centre, 15 minutes from Flatford Mill/Dedham (great for a lovely walk or boat down the river) and 40 minutes from the lovely coastal resort of Southwold. Great stay and all staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

Room Tip: No lift so if you stay for a few days and have luggage ask for a room on the ground floor
