“Perfectly Fine for a one-night stay or weekend.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013

I stayed here with my husband as it was convenient for an event we were attending at Hintlesham Hall (and obviously a lot cheaper). It's well situated for Ipswich Town Centre and access to the A12/A14. It's located on the main road into Ipswich from London just past Toys R Us and Tesco. It's also a good location for visiting the Suffolk countryside as Lavenham, Long Melford, Kersey and Clare are all easy to drive to from here with lovely country roads to drive down. We got a good rate via Late Rooms. We arrived around 5pm and were given an upgrade to an executive room, which basically meant a bigger room. The room was clean and decor on a par with Premier Inn (but with more toiletries and softer towels). The bed was comfortable with a choice of different pillows. The bathroom was small, but adequate. The shower was hot and had enough power. We were located in room 162 which was a way from the reception, however this meant it was also quiet. The room overlooked fields out the back and was light and airy. We didn't have breakfast or any food in the evening, but the bar area is fine, albeit with a dubious 'tudor' theme (the Holiday Inn is a very 70's functional building and they would have been better off going with a retro 70's theme). Service was polite and attentive. Stay here if you want a no-fuss, convenient stay over in Ipswich or a cheap stay to visit the lovely Suffolk countryside.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn for the Great East Swim (which ended up being cancelled). Very comfortable, clean room, didn't hear any noise at night. The pool and gym are nice, and staff are friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast with lots of variety including a good fruit selection. Loved the pancake machine!

The hotel is around three miles from Ipswich, there is a large Tesco and other shops nearby. The no 13 bus goes from Tesco and quite close to the hotel fairly regularly into Ipswich, the "five" ticket (I think up to five people after 1500 weekdays and all day weekends) is a bargain for £4.

The Brook Inn at Washbrook is around 25 minutes away on foot, there's a shared cycle path/footpath which avoids the road, and is well worth a visit.

Would definitely stay here again if in Ipswich.

I stay here quite allot. The staff are always friendly and helpful, Rachel in bookings always very good, quickly responding to booking requests etc. One of the great things is reception, particularly Jade always remembers my name, having room details ready - makes a customer feel valued, well done. The Gym facilities are also very good at this hotel.

Room Tip: Executive rooms are better.

Arrived at Holiday inn 2.30 Friday afternoon for a long weekend. Warm Welcome from the reception staff however the room was not ready, but we were offered complimentary drinks while waiting. The hotel was clean, the room comfortable and a very convenient location for visiting Suffolk. Would recommend it and use it again if in the area.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back were very quiet.

Stayed here for one night - welcomed by very efficient young lady on Reception. Room we had was an executive room, very spacious, nice bathroom, very clean and comfortable.
Bar area nice and open, Restaurant good with very nice selection of food, buffet or a la carte.
Central location. Had previously stayed at the Holiday Inn - Orwell - Ipswich and this one was far far better - no comparison. Will stay there again.

Room Tip: Choose an executive room if you can, on ground floor

Was visiting Ipswich on business and after my 4 hour drive from the Midlands, I was completely shattered. The check in process was extremely slow which was disappointing. The hotel itself is clean and quite modern. The room was very nice and clean, shower excellent. Everything you could want really. I ordered room service and this was delivered promptly and was surprisingly good. I didn't realise the hotel had a pool, but popped down to the Tesco Extra about 1 min drive to the south, picked up some swimming shorts for £3 and enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Great facilities. Breakfast was good, standard Holiday Inn.

Handy for shops, park and ride and road connections. This hotel has the lot; big flat screen TV, teas and coffee facilities, free wifi in the lounge, great decor, luxury bathroom, fantastic pool area. It is difficult to find fault with this hotel, we even got a glass of champagne on arrival.

Room Tip: We had an internal room overlooking a bit of green so it was very quiet but expect most rooms are qu...
