popped in for lunch ,staff as we arrived very attentive and pleasant, made you fell relaxed.menus were explained and when one of the people with me asked about certain dishes the waitress had good menu knowledge.starter arrived quick, tasty, hot, presentation a bit sloppy, but overall vary tasty. my partner ordered prawn tastados, her daughter ordered bbq pork chimichangas from the snack lunch time menu,i ordered off main menu swordfish steak southern exposure-blackened with cajan spices with home made potatoe wedgies and salad. for our main course. the food when it came out was presented ok,hot ,tasted realy good,my sword fish was to die for, been chargrilled ,but still moist ,not frazzeled like a lot of places tend to do..portions large and great value for money......decor in mambos in need of a little touching up in places, but this down to wear n tear.overall though a great experiance and would recommend ,and intend to re visit again soon.

Dropped into Mambos on a Saturday nIght for a quick meal. It is what is is... The food was served in very large portions and was just OK at best. The service friendly but a little slow. The meat in one of our dishes was very tough. You get what you pay for!

I've been going to mambos since it opened in Ipswich and had nothing but fantastic service. are friendly and the food is great (massive portions!). Not sure why there are so many negative reviews as i haven't once had a disappointing experience with mambos and think its the best place in town. Me and my husband will be going there again tonight and have every expectation that it will be as good as any other time we've been.

We went here with high hopes of something really different and rather special - our visit was very disappointing.

The staff were welcoming, efficient and pleasant - no problem there. Not so the food!

Both our starter and our main course were served on cold plates and really were no warmer than lukewarm. Everything, literally everything, needed to be properly heated through. It wasn't just the plates at fault - the food was obviously not properly hot when put on the plates and/or was left hanging around too long before being brought to us.

The predominant flavour was of barbeque sauce, used liberally!

The food was of generally poor quality, badly prepared. Cut down the vast quantity presented and just do a smaller amount properly!

Finally, the overwhelmingly dominating 'Mexican' music did not add atmosphere - it was just intrusive.

Wetherspoons is better - honestly!

Friendly staff, didn't wait long for drinks or food, when the food came out the portion was spot on and cooked as I had ordered.

Didn't get a chance to check the desserts, was far too full.

All in all, good value, great portions, friendly staff. Good atmosphere.

Just one minor point. The guys behind the grill should remember that noise travels a little further than they think and conversations carry out onto the seated area.
