I go to the swallow on a bi-monthly basis for lunch either on my own or with my parents, and it never dissappoints. Good tasty food, excellent service, unlimited tea or coffee (I love tea) and parking is pretty good. I normally go there aroung 2pm as it is pretty quiet and get served quite quick. The only negative point is the portions are a little small for the prices charged so have to order a side to make up for it which costs more.

But all-in-all a very good pub restaurant not very far from where I live in east Ipswich!

A friendly welcome by attentive staff. Easy ordering and very quick service. Varied pub grub menu at reasonable prices. Only slight criticism is the practice of providing unlimited coffee, there is a limit to how much you want or can drink and at the price charged is very expensive for a one cup need. Having said that the two for £11 offer on meals during the day make this a good place to visit and eat.

The play area in this pub means that if you want a family meal then great - if you want fine dining or a romantic tete a tete then forget it - go down to the Waterfront ! The Swallow is what it is - a reasonably cheap, family experience where the kids don't have to sit bored silly for two hours while the adults eat. It's basically a play area, where adults can eat fairly reasonable, but not fabulous, food while the kids have a good time, running around like banshees in the supervised play area. My only objection is paying £2 per child for my 6 grandchildren to go in the play area while spending in the region of £120 for a meal and drinks for three adults and six kids - shouldn't this be included in the price ??

I am a regular diner at the Swallow.
The service has improved somewhat on our last couple of visits, but the ordering process is still painfully slow. Only one person trying to take food orders and drinks.
Food is good for the price you pay.
My main criticism is the fact that on the last three occasions there have been children in the "adults dining" area. There is a large area for families, so why are children still in the adults area?
