The waterfront area is nice for a relaxing stroll in the sun and has a few nice places to eat and to drink, all pretty much offering a fairly good view and to sit outside and enjoy the sun.

Worth a visit for a bit of history and a walk in the south facing bowl (warm even winter). Not reached it full potential and due to crash left in a real mess in places but some very good restaurants / bars. Can't wait until they finally finish it!

An area that has been much improved in recent years, the waterfront is developing well. The old Customs House dominates and is impressive. Businesses and restaurants are moving in to the area and it is beginning to look good.

Yes. This is just Ipswich Docks with a load of half finished flats built along the edges. I guess the intention was to to try and mimic Bristol or Norwich or Nottingham or anywhere else with a bit of water in the middle of it. However, at the end of the day, this area is a working dock so there's a limit on the amount and scope of redevelopment and maybe because of this, or just rank bad planning, it just hasn't worked. Yes there's one nice pub and a nice, but overpriced hotel down there, along with a few coffee shops, but apart from that, not a lot. A few unfinished building sites, several slum-style blocks of flats and no real direction.

Maybe if there had been a greater vision to begin with, this 'project' could have been so much more. But, having said that, this is Ipswich. Maybe you'll have fun parking in one of crater laden car parks and walking a few hundred yards up the dock and then back again because that's pretty much all there is to it.

outdoors is lovely when it is sunny, other wise it looks like any other place in ipswich when you are stuck inside, some lovely bars and resturants but it has been taken over by 'kids' on nights out at the weekends, could have been lovely but now it is a 'scene' the ACTUAL resturants are over shadowed by the loud bars.
