Description: This is a lovely Gastro Pub, the new owners took over in October 2009 and have fantastic plans. They only serve locally brewed Bitter and Lager plus a great wine list. Mike is a fantastic chef and the staff are always friendly, smiling and helpful. Lots of space for private parties or meetings. Daily fresh menu with local produce.

Went for Sunday lunch, 3 children and 4 adults.
Firstly, it was actually warm on this visit! I've been before and been frozen.
Service was impeccable.
Food was amazing. A great choice. Kids could have kids menu or half portions of adult menu. I had the guinea fowl which was to die for.
The portions were fairly large and I came away feeling suitably stuffed.
Plenty of ales/beers to choose from.
I would definitely eat there again and would rate it No1 on places to eat in Ipswich.
The only down side are the toilets that need a serious revamp. They were freezing and very smelly. My husband refused to take our toddler to the gents as he was so disgusted by them!
So either cross your legs or dress up warm and hold your nose!

We had a good snack lunch here a while back, and finally got around to trying out their much larger dinner menu.

The place is very much a pub that does food, and one gets a friendly vibe from the staff and customers. However don't expect formal waiting staff to greet you and take you to your table! Instead catch someone's eye - either at the bar or a passing (very busy) waitress. If you book, good chance a table will have a reserved marker - and ready for you.
The web site gives a good impression of the food available. Our menu had a mix of familiar hearty eating plus some interesting dishes. Our star dish was a confit of guinea fowl with black pudding jam - this was truly excellent. The other starter, crab cakes was good. For mains we had a burger, which was clearly in-house made, with good chips (not french fries, not thick cut x-times fried, but good old chips like you get from a decent chip shop). And a hake, prawn and chirozo jambalaya - which was very good. Portions are hearty eating, rather than foodie, sizes.

The wine list is an A5 sheet, white on one side, red on the other. Good selection, and many by the glass. Prices are low - so excellent value here. Our 3, different, glasses were all fine.

Our (hard working) waitress was attentive, friendly and efficient.

So, overall, this was an excellent and great value dinner. The menu and venue both show considerable character - why go to a national chain and get standardised food, when you can eat and drink here and get: better meal; better atmosphere; much better value? The place seems to be buzzing and thriving - and it deserves it.

The Brewerey Tap is a beautiful tradional pub/restaurant.
It has lots of rooms and an eclectic mix of tables and chairs.
You can play board games and quiz games while you relax with some Suffolk Ales or enjoy the superb freshly prepared food on offer.
It may be hard to find the Brewery Tap but it makes a good walk from the town centre or the Marina.
It is a popular retreat for a wide range of visitors and many groups and clubs hold regular meets here.
They also have quiz nights, pizza nights and curry nights during the week.
The menu changes daily and is always varied and tasty. The portions are substantial which means you may not have room for one of their delicious desserts!
An example of items on the menu are pork belly with mash, seasonaal veg and Aspall Cyder butter sauce. Battered fish and chips with mushy peas. Steak and Kidney pie. Mushroom and spinach spaghetti.
The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. I am Coeliac and they are happy to discuss any menu items and adapt them as required.
Service is good for such a busy place and you do n ot need to book all the time, although if you intend to eat it would be a good idea to check first.
All in all, a great place to meet up with friends, relax in a traditional pub atmosphere and enjoy superb food cooked by someone else!!

Back again. Stunning again. Popped in early Sunday evening after a brilliant visit to the gardens at Anglesea Abbey.

Husband had the double cooked cheese soufle (Binham Blue cheese) and I the Gyoza (Japanese) dumplings and noodle salad for starters. The Gyoza dumplings were non-dairy - typical of this simply brilliant place, non-dairy is already 'sorted'. No Spanish Inquisition needed : they were on the ball - with no pre booking.

Roast pork for 2 followed...stunning. After a busy Sunday the apple sauce was done and dusted. No trouble - fresh made within 4 minutes. I mean, brilliant

Husband had the Chocolate pudding and peanut butter ice-cream. OK, it was a buttery. chocolately soft fondant of a dessert: definitely not so much of a pudding, more food pornography. Goodness this was naughty. As ever, lovely warm service and really well-priced wines.

We'll say it again: why eat elsewhere? Happy Dance!
