A wonderful small museum with very friendly and knowledgeable staff that made our afternoon a very pleasant one. The vehicles are in great condition and they have a good variety. We thought that our daughter may have been bored but being able to get on some of the buses meant that she enjoyed the afternoon as much as the rest of the family. There lots of other items to look at and to learn a bit about the history of local transport, plus a G gauge railway to keep the young and not so young amused. The tea shop is fairly basic fare but good value and again very pleasant. We would definitely recommend a trip to the Ipswich Transport Museum if you have few hours to spare, especially if it is a day when they may be running some of the old buses.

First of all you can get a free bus to the museum but only in August but it's an old fashioned bus from Ipswich train station that the kids loved and you get an old fashioned ticket so a great piece of British history. The museum isn't the biggest but they have buses, fire engines and cars from different years and a great children's play area. Really simple cafe but great prices. It is also £5.50 to get in which is a tad expensive for what's there however the kids loved it plus your helping to keep the history of this country open so I can't complain really. Staff are friendly. And after a few hours you can get the free bus back to the train station. So don't forget the bus is free so actually when I think about it £5.50 is not that bad to get in.

The transport museum is a bit out of town and was a good 3 mile walk, however there is a bus stop immediately outside with a half hourly service.
There are a large number of exhibits, varying from bicycles to large buses & fire engines with a few engineering exhibits also thrown in for good measure. The only one minor issue with this is the closeness of the exhibits to each other, which makes it difficult to get good photographs with a standard lens - a wide angle is really required.
The museum is run by volunteers who also wander the floor and provide a wealth of background information...
Opening times vary, and there is little in the vicinity so it is wise to check before heading out...
All in all I had a very enjoyable few hours

As I stated on my last 2013 visit to the Ipswich transport museum that we would return and we did all 7 of us,this time it was my grandsons birthday Archie who was four.He had an amazing time the attendants couldn't have been more helpful giving us guided tours around certain buses and allowing him to sit in the drivers compartment and ring bells etc.The cafeteria was excellent as usual with a very friendly lady making the rolls and drinks. We will return as we still haven't seen it all.

My first visit to the Museum along with my 6 year Grandson and daughter and we were amazed at the array of vehicles of every kind that they have there.. All in pristine condition which have been lovingly restored by a dedicated team of volunteers. A must for everyone.
