Having lived within easy walking distance of this place for some years, we thought it was high time we visited and were very glad that we did. There are a surprising number of old vehicles and other transport memorabilia on display and you can see into some of the workshop areas where other vehicles are being restored. Some vehicles can be sat in and/or climbed upon and the staff and volunteers are only too happy to share information and show you around if you ask. We had a drink and a sausage roll at the little cafe and it was very nice. The cakes and sandwiches on sale appear to be homemade and it was very reasonably priced. We visited on one of their 'event' days so paid a slightly higher than normal entry fee which then entitled us to go for a ride on a vintage bus. Riding around your home town on an open top bus on a sunny Sunday afternoon turns out to be rather good fun.
A brilliant little local resource, we recommend the Ipswich Transport Museum and will definitely be going there again.
