“Great food and very good entertainment”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

The food and the entertainment were worthy of a 4* hotel - but the hotel is sadly in need of a large amount of refurbishment - with stained walls and carpets and a general delapidated look about the whole hotel

Unfortunately big let down on this hotel which is well sited just a few minutes walk from sea front but the hotel needs a lot of redecorating, paintwork and varnish doors, carpets some threadbare and a good hoover, looks very dowdy not at all welcoming to guests, it says The New Lorretta refurbished well that was in 1996 and not kept up to date very old fashioned only thing we noticed was bathrooms had been refurbished mind you a bit small and narrow, food well was average at least there was a choice of 3 dishes for evening meal same as breakfast staff were brilliant very polite and efficient, stayed with National Holiday's on a coaching holiday 5 day break also only small lift which says it holds 8 but 6 is a push and 4 with elderly with walking sticks. For the amount of people which required to use the lift was totally inadequate do to the add on effect of properties lots of landings with up and down steps, long way to fire exits one of my priorities we were on 3rd floor not at all happy. Entertainment overall very good

Room Tip: Request ground floor if you have any walking disability

THE NEW LORETTA HOTEL, LLANDUDNO.

Having read several very grim reviews regarding this hotel, it was with some trepidation that we arrived in our National Holidays Coach after a pleasant, uneventful journey at around 3pm. That’s where our worries ended. OK So I think the management would agree that the hotel is overdue a little refurbishment, it’s quite tired looking but yet charming in its own way. After a very slick professional check in we were in our room in what seemed like seconds from exiting the Coach.
Our twin room on floor 3 was lovely. Nice and bright, clean and ticked all the boxes. The beds were very comfy. Bathroom was fine with everything working, Hot drinks facility was more than adequate, Hairdryer. Flat screen TV, Telephone, etc. All in good working order. Our Towels were changed daily and bed linen was changed after 2 nights of our 4 night stay. The room was cleaned efficiently every day.
On our first foray to the dining room we were allocated a table which was to be ours for the remainder of our stay. We did actually share a table with a very nice couple from Blackburn and got on quite well. I’m sure that if we had insisted on a table of our own this would not have been a problem. But we feel that a big part of a holiday is meeting, chatting with and laughing with other people. So we were more than happy to share.
As for the food. One word EXCELLENT comes to mind. I was a Chef for several years and I was amazed at the high standard and very balanced choice of the menu. Breakfast started with serve yourself from a good range of cereals and fruit juice etc. Followed by waiter served hot main course from a choice of a simple poached egg on toast or a full 7 item Welsh breakfast. Or anything in between. During breakfast there was a tick box form provided to choose evening meal main course. Dinner at 7pm consisted of 3 courses. Soup or a cold starter, followed by main course selected as above, which was usually a choice of a Fish dish, a meat dish, accompanied by potatoes and very nice and varied Veg. or a salad. Followed by a choice of 4 or 5 deserts always including a fresh fruit salad for those counting calories. All this helped down with a complimentary glass of wine. Ample coffee was served which most people seemed to take out to the conservatory or bar lounge.
The Bar / Lounge area was very pleasant and popular with entertainment provided on 3 of our 4 nights stay. There were lots of sing-along’s, laughter and dancing, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves until quite late. The lone barman was very friendly and efficient and although quite busy there was never more than two or three guests waiting to be served.
This is a budget hotel which definitely reaches at least one star higher than its 2 star listing. My wife Kath and I must have spoken to at least 20 other guests and did not hear one complaint. Also every one we spoke to was complimentary about the food. All of the staff were very polite, attentive, and most of all they all seemed to be happy in their work with smiling faces. As proof if it were needed Kath and I were so pleased that we have booked again for September this year. HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lift.

Was disappointed on arrival, certainly looked better online, good location, staff very helpful and friendly, the decor certainly tired, consolation was the room was bright and airy, we booked independantly, and also had to share a table, we usually like to be given an option, as we would of preferred to dine alone, and so would the couple we shared with, we are certainly not unsociable people,

My 13yr old daughter and myself decided on a last minute weekend away and booked 2 nights at the New Loretta Hotel. There were no reviews on the website and I actually thought it was a new hotel. on arrival we were given our key card and went upto the room. Upon opening the door the room smelt of dirty bodies, the bed covers were worn and in places thread bear. there was wall paper hanging of the wall in one place. My daughter opened the bedside drawer and found some loose tablets luckily being 13 she knew not to eat them, what would a 2yr old done!!? The first evening when I pulled the bed cover down I found what looked like 'poo' stains on it. When we went downstairs for the entertainment we were confronted with a room of OAP's. I have no problem with elderly people, I work with them everyday as a carer, but I feel that somewhere the hotel should advertise that they do couch tours as this seems to be the main business and what the hotel caters best for.at breakfast time as we were being served the fried bread fell of the plate onto the floor where it stayed for the next 15 minutes even though we were sat right next to the door leading into the kitchen. I was very dissappointed and the only thing that saved our weekend was deciding to stay an extra nite at a lovely little B & B on the same road as the Loretta.

Room Tip: Don't stay here

We have just returned from a lovely weeks holiday at the New Loretta Hotel in Llandudno! Myself and my girlfriend both had an amazing time and will definitely be returning again next year! The hotel was great value for money and has an excellent location, the rooms were clean and tidy, the staff extremely friendly and the food was fab :-) We are now trying to come to terms with the fact that we have got to go back to work tomorrow but we are already planning our next visit to the new loretta!

I went on a coach holiday for the first time with National Holidays, our driver was Dennis and he looked after us from day one. When we checked in I feared the worst as the first thing they ask you to do is choose an option for your evening meal and given an envelope with drinks tokens in that were part of our package.
We went to the dining room and were told we had to share a table with 2 others from the coach,we were apprehensive as we are used to dining alone but were pleasantly surprised when we were met by a couple of a similar age.We were later told they do this to make people mingle and we were to sit at the same table every day,if you book direct you don't do this.
THE ROOM was good no air con but very clean and comfortable with a kettle and tea/coffee milk etc supplied and replenished every day.Towels were changed on a regular basis and room cleaned every day. There was also a modern tv in the room.
FOOD.There is a coice of 3 for the main course with a roast dinner a salad or fish on offer a choice of soup or fruit for starters and different choices of dessert every day.The food was good home cooking and very good quality served in a very clean enviroment by busy but efficient staff.
THE BAR is small but has a good selection of drinks at reasonable price a bit more expensive than pubs but not extortionate.
ENTERTAINMENT we went in July and this was only on a couple of nights but they had karyoke and guests could get up and sing recite poetry or tell a joke if they wished not my kind of thing but others loved it.
LOCATION very good only a few minutes walk to the beach, where their are a couple of boat rides I would say the fast one is the best. The pier and the town centre are nearby.
I am surprised to say I loved the coach holiday met some lovely and lively people who left me standing and they were pensioners
I wouls reccomend this hotel to anyone it is a little dated but staff are friendly and very helpful all rooms clean and comfortable and food very good

Room Tip: a room at the front we had 218 that is a good size
