We have been customers of The Victoria Pub for 20 year based on the good location and the ‘dog friendly’ policy. The dog friendly term however has always been used quiet loosely and we have always felt as though dogs weren’t always completely accepted however it has been convenient thus our custom has remained. HOWEVER please if you have dogs do not waste your money on POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. After spending £100 over last weekend on food and drinks we have been shocked and humiliated. Today after spending the last 2 hours in the pub the landlady who appeared from nowhere decided to publically notify us to leave the pub as they do not have barking dogs and that dogs being allowed in pubs is a luxury. This rude, obnoxious and pretentious comment came from the landlady after she heard our dog bark at another dog who entered the pub, our dog may I add had been sitting quietly for the two hours previous. As dog owners we do understand that constant barking is not acceptable however this ludicrous, bold and public shaming was uncalled for and unacceptable after all you cannot call yourself a ‘child friendly venue’ and not expect a child to cry. If you are going to call yourself a ‘dog friendly’ venue you should be understanding of the ODD bark. You are either a ‘dog friendly venue’ or you aren’t, there is no in-between and the term shouldn’t be used to gain custom if it is not completely applied. After 20 years of custom this is the first time we have seen the landlady who clearly thinks it is acceptable to throw her poor customer service around. As a loyal customer of The Empire Hotel we can clearly see the difference between quality management than that of a manager who is not in control. We will now be dinning at The Kings Head and The Snowden who demonstrate much more regard for both dogs and people.

Very friendly staff at the Queen Victoria and the menus have a wide variety of choice to cater for everyone's taste. It also had a good choice of vegetarian meals that suited my brother and sister in law. The food is well presented and very tasty.
