“Please try this amazing valued hotel”
Reviewed December 4, 2012

We have just returned from our third stay (since August) and really cannot fault. Paul and Jackie (the owners) go the extra mile every time. Ok, it may be a bit dated, but this is purely cosmetic and will take on going time. The food is really good and homely and full credit to Paul for using inititive by taking meal orders, thus restricting wastage. Throughly enjoyed each and every stay excellent value for money. We met some lovely people had a good laugh with the entertainments, Steve on the Friday and Elvis on the Saturday. So do yourself a big favour and try this hotel - you will return. Most people we talked to had been going there for up to 14 years, surely this is testiment in itself!! Well done, Paul, Jackie and staff you are brilliant.

Stayed here for a short break at beginning of December and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Paul and Jackie couldnt have been more hospitable and all the staff couldnt be more accomodating. Meals were very good and we were very surprised to be treated to a " Xmas Day and New Year " celebration with presents for all and refreshments during the entertainment., which was also very good. Rooms are not 5star but had everything that was required for a short break holiday. We would definately go back and feel sure we would receive the same welcome.

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview room.

My sister and I stopped for a weekend expecting this hotel to be clean, tidy and welcoming, but we got a shock when we went into our room. Besides being the size of an iPod, the TV did not work and we had to plug the aerial in and retune it. The furniture was MFI style with exposed chipwood and rickity. No bedside lamp. Curtains falling off. The shower was a walk-in plastic container with no hot water, but plenty of hot water in the sink tap. Filthy windows, bathroom and carpet.Radiator on full blast all day and through the night and could not turn it off, adjustment missing.Dinner at 6.30pm, all 105 guests in at the same time it was like herding and feeding cattle (the cattle wouldn't have been happy either!) .School-like dinners with not a lot of choice. Breakfast at 9am, plastic type sausages, indescribable bacon,( beans, egg and tomatoes not too bad). Had to tick a box on menu for the following dinnertime Dining room not cleaned properly plus table covers not changed .Complained to the manager about no hot water in the shower and he blasted back, ( that the system wanted updating because if everyone is taking a shower at the same time the water will run out) and no apology. One of the stairs' bannisters was loose and a spindle loose, (dangerous!). The lift was appalling - very outdated, both doors to the lift had to be manually closed and only enough room for 2 persons (pity about the luggage!!).

The manager was in the dining room on one occasion talking out loudly to his staff in front of all 105 guests when he should have carried out this kind of discussion in a private area.

The car park leaves a lot to be desired. Not much room, rubbish all around. Park there at your peril!

The hotel is in a bad state of repair and in our opinion is not a very safe place to be a guest as regards fire safety. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Stayed here in November as part of a Leisuretime coach break. We had booked a mystery trip so was not aware of our destination until a week before our break. When we got the details we searched on Trip Adviser and did have concerns over the comments made. However we went with an open mind and were pleasantly surprised. Yes it is a tired Hotel that needs a lot of updating. But the bed was comfy, the bedding and towels were spotless and the dining experience was of an acceptable quality for the budget price paid. If you want a 4* experience then you need to be prepared to pay 4* prices. However If you want a budget break in a seafront hotel close to all Llandudno has to offer, and are prepared to accept a basic and no frills standard then this hotel will not disappoint.

Room Tip: Request a room at the front of the hotel, as the views are great.

The rooms were adequate for our needs.Food was satisfying .Entertainment brilliant.
We had B. and B and evening meal for less cost than a premier inn room only . Paul and his team should be applauded for giving such a competitive price which allows many people an opportunity to have an holiday on a tight budget..Yes the building may not be perfect and needs upgrading but small businesses are suffering in this economic climate with Banks not providing funds to allow these upgrades.
We found the beds comfortable with towels and bedding clean and fresh .
All the staff were friendly and welcoming all the other guests we spoke to had the same view has us that they would come back again.

We went to this hotel for 2nights on a 60's week-end October 2012 also, but never again, although we enjoyed Llandudno itself! We'd only gone on a cheapy so weren't expecting much but had asked for 2 disabled rooms. We were put on the 3rd floor - and although there is a very, very small lift capable of holding 2 skinny people only or 3 very small people at a big push, you still have to walk up approx. 7/8 very narrow stairs, dangerous when you are on 2 sticks with a case and a bag!!!!Their was entertanment of sorts ....not very special but ok....wouldn;t recommend it tho. Wouldn't have like to have a fire drill tho cause I;m sure it would have failed!!! Breakfast wasnt good. It was at 9am .......but we had to wait for the doors to be opened before we could enter the dining room - toast was already on the table when we eventually got in and it was cold and hard. We asked for brown toast but no brown bread!! the whole week-end. The tv in the bedroom is no good at all. Beds were clean tho.

My husband, his cousin and his wife and I were booked in for a two night stay at the Whitehouse as part of the Travelstyle 60's weekend. I can honestly say I have never stayed in such an awful place in my life! I know it was not an expensive weekend but I had expected cheap and cheerful - this is so not what we got.

On arrival we were informed we would be on table 14 and were given a scrap of paper which listed the choices for our evening meal. We were told to tick our choices as it was useful to avoid too much food being purchased and wasted - unbelieveable! We were then informed that our 'sitting' would be a 6pm tonight and 7pm on Saturday night; I was speechless at this point.

We went for lunch in Llandudno and decided that we didn't want to stay for evening meal at the hotel and booked into a really nice Chinese restaurant for 8pm; a much more civilised time to eat. I rang the hotel to inform them, conscious that food should not be bought on our behalf :-).

The rooms, whilst being basic, were at least clean, this is the only reason we didn't leave there and then. I did have to request a mug as only one had been provided in a double room - never drank out of it in the end though.

We came back to the hotel after our meal to see what the entertainment was like - OMG it was dire, the room was scruffy; the curtains were falling off the rail behind the act. I was served with a vodka and tonic; the tonic was flat. When I went to request a top up with fresh tonic I noticed that they were using ASDA 3 for £1.50 tonic (which is fine incidentally). I think a really good tip would be to throw the bottle out at the end of the night even if it is not empty; at that price you would not be wasting much money and customers would receive an acceptable drink!!!

We left after one drink and went to the Queen Vic pub which was lovely and well worth a visit if you are in Llandudno, the staff were efficient and very friendly and the drinks were well presented.

We now move onto breakfast which was at 9am (not anytime between say 9-11 as in most hotels). We arrived to find a queue waiting to enter the dining room, all that was missing was Basil Fawlty with a big gong to announce the opening of the doors! We entered the room and looked for table 14, there was someone else on it so we asked the 'dining room monitor' where we should sit. He then marched over to table 14 and tried to throw the people off, at this point I was all for heading to M&S for a proper breakfast. We were really embarrassed by this and apologised to the people who said they had been told to sit there last night because we didn't use the table.

Eventually we sat on another table which was covered in disgusting, cracked, dirty and unusable crockery. Teapots and toast were already on the table and we were given a verbal list of items to choose from; I decided against it. We girls were unable to have a drink as the cups were vile, my husband and his cousin valiently tried the food but gave up and we ended up in M&S after all.

After a nice trip to the Great Orme and a lovely lunch in the Queen Vic we decided to call it a day and cut our losses and leave. The 'dining room monitor' actually asked us in a resigned tone if we had had enough; obviously well used to people doing a bunk after only one night.

Please take note of this review and DON'T stay at the Whitehouse Hotel - I'm still scarred by the experience!
