Wonderful surroundings and excellent food. We came late on a Sat' and couldn't get a table, but the chef himself (and owner in law! Owned by his wife's family) Served us and made us feel very welcome. The other staff, we have to say let the place down badly! They ignored us (had to get my own napkin and go to the bar, which was just in front of us!) and made us feel as though we were "putting them out" by being in the bar, instead of the restaurant. We were facing the bar and despite the fact that we sat there for ages, noone offered us a drink, napkin (as mentioned) or to take our food order. This was all done by the chef himself, who went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our meal, even though he was obviously very busy. The "hostess" had a terrible attitude and not just to us; watching her with the other customer's, we feel she was doing the place no favours and told the chef himself about our feelings. He was very upset and gave us a complimentry drink, but we feel they need to have some serious words with their staff, before they put off customers. The hostess did change her attitude after we finished our meal and asked to look at a room (very very beautiful and good value for what you get compared to the other "bog standard" hotels around ) She then couldn't do enough for us, but for us it was a case of "too little too late!". We did want to book our wedding here, but for some unexplicable reason, despite the fact that we offerd to book every room in the hotel (no cheap feat) they refused to put them selves out and give us the whole restaurent for our party. I don't understand the logic behind this. Surely it would make sense to have a fully booked restaurant than to have a 1/2 full one and unhappy wedding guests, who have paid to stay in the hotel? Especially as our wedding is in beginning of Jan'; a known quiet time in LLandudno's season!
