Description: Osborne’s Café and Grill in Llandudno -- could there be a more romantic restaurant anywhere? Set in the Grade II listed Osborne House Hotel right on the promenade, Osborne’s is a modern tribute to high Victorian style. Softly candlelit and decorated with opulent drapery, period fireplace, gleaming chandeliers, gilt mirrors, antiques, paintings and fluted columns, the dining room still manages to be relaxed and informal. Perfect for light bites or full meals, the menu uses local produce to create inventive, seasonally-changing modern European dishes. Everyone loves the Conwy Valley lamb shank with ratatouille and basil when it’s on the menu and the Osborne’s rendering of fish and chips.

“excellent food and chef very personable.”
Reviewed September 9, 2010

Wonderful surroundings and excellent food. We came late on a Sat' and couldn't get a table, but the chef himself (and owner in law! Owned by his wife's family) Served us and made us feel very welcome. The other staff, we have to say let the place down badly! They ignored us (had to get my own napkin and go to the bar, which was just in front of us!) and made us feel as though we were "putting them out" by being in the bar, instead of the restaurant. We were facing the bar and despite the fact that we sat there for ages, noone offered us a drink, napkin (as mentioned) or to take our food order. This was all done by the chef himself, who went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our meal, even though he was obviously very busy. The "hostess" had a terrible attitude and not just to us; watching her with the other customer's, we feel she was doing the place no favours and told the chef himself about our feelings. He was very upset and gave us a complimentry drink, but we feel they need to have some serious words with their staff, before they put off customers. The hostess did change her attitude after we finished our meal and asked to look at a room (very very beautiful and good value for what you get compared to the other "bog standard" hotels around ) She then couldn't do enough for us, but for us it was a case of "too little too late!". We did want to book our wedding here, but for some unexplicable reason, despite the fact that we offerd to book every room in the hotel (no cheap feat) they refused to put them selves out and give us the whole restaurent for our party. I don't understand the logic behind this. Surely it would make sense to have a fully booked restaurant than to have a 1/2 full one and unhappy wedding guests, who have paid to stay in the hotel? Especially as our wedding is in beginning of Jan'; a known quiet time in LLandudno's season!

“Great decor but inexperienced staff..again!”
Reviewed April 11, 2010

Wow decor but always never quite hits the mark..last 2 visits we ordered Gin Martinis and on both occasions the barman needed explaining what to do! Its kind of like eating/dining in the the best looking townhouse you are ever likely to see but being served by pub staff who seem unsure what they are doing. Equally there seems to be a drop in dress standards with some diners even sitting in football shirts. Pity as its one of the most stylish places you'll find outside London. It could be so much better with a bit of attention to detail/training for the staff and some sort of dress code to encourage people to make an effort. Still worth going for the decor though!

“Wonderful place for an intimate dinner”
Reviewed April 6, 2010

Had dinner here last night for the first time. The decor is stunninr - very glamorous and heaps of attention to detail. The bar area itself adds a tasteful contemporary touch to a stylish Victorian interior. The service was faultless - efficient, discreet, personable and courteous. Each course was a delight, my husband perhaps could have done with a larger portion (but then he always can!) but for me it was perfect. All round excellence and so nice to be able to say that about somewhere close to home.
