Owner description: MOSTYN is a friendly place to discover inspiring art, enjoy our shop and cafe, and learn or do something new. Bringing an impressive selection of international contemporary art to Llandudno, we have a varied programme of exhibitions and events, in fantastic spaces that merge the old and the new. We offer a wide range of activities, and families are particularly welcome. With activity sheets, talks, tours, workshops and drop-in sessions, there's something for everyone. In our stunning shop you'll find the best in contemporary craft from Wales and beyond. We stock jewellery, ceramics, textiles and glassware alongside books and gifts for all ages. Come along to our fully accessible and spacious cafe which offers delicious freshly cooked food with an international flavour. It's the ideal place to call in for brunch, lunch or afternoon tea, with lovely views to the sea and the work of local artists on the walls. Knowledgeable gallery staff are always happy to talk to you about the exhibitions. If you have any questions, or would like an informal tour, just ask.

This is an amazing cultural experience hidden away in a lovely seaside town. It recently underwent a massive makeover and the building itself is very worth seeing. Exhibition wise, it often gives the huge names in the business a run for their money. I would like to see the V&A taking a leaf out of the Mostyn's book; they regularly show ground breaking work, contemporary collaborations and often explore new avenues, with humour or poignancy. I often visit and enjoy the lovely town of Llandudno and its environs, but the gallery is the main reason for the trip.
Their gift shop is great too!

Popped into the Caffi for a cup of tea and a cake with my parents at about 3.30pm. Waitress was lovely and could not do enough for us, drinks were fine, but scone was too dry (more like a rock cake) although plenty of butter was served. Lemon drizzle cake was lovely.
Unfortunately we had not left enough time to view the Gallery exhibition, so will have to return at a later date.

The Mostyn is a superb example of a white box gallery where the exhibits are well displayed and lit. It is the only gallery in North wales which displays cutting edge art both national and international on a regular basis and the only one featuring work by contemporary photographers.
It is therefore valuable.
How much more valuable it would be if it were to open its doors to a wider range of exhibitions especially those which appear internationally only in London. It would be great to see work from the National Portrait Gallery, The Tate, The National Museum of ... whatever in Bradford (like the RPS Collection) so the gallery would broaden its scope and draw in a wider range of visitors who might then visit when the works might be more challenging.
That said the place has a great coffee shop, an attractive gift and book shop (the gifts a bit twee though) and the staff are most helpful.

today i really enjoyed lunch in the cafe
the choice was interesting and unusual
the flavour good
the service was excellent with attentive staff
so all in all worth the visit without the view which puts icing on the cake

i did not like the exhibitions on this occasion but still one ought to see all types so as to better inform oneself
in the past i think that they have exhibited much interesting work
