We love taking the youngest son here, there is not lots and lots there but it is a working farm and has enough for a day out with the children, nice walks and fun things for kids

We went to Bodafon with the kids a few years ago and came away thinking it was ok but not great value for money. Then sometime last year we noticed that admission was now free and that this would last for all of 2012. Since then we've been back a few times and will continue to visit from time to time so long as admission continues to be free.

The farm has a collection of farm animals such as cows, sheep and pigs as well as a few less common creatures like llamas, deer and a rhea (it's a large bird a bit like an ostrich). They are also home to the North Wales Bird Trust which has a collection of birds of prey, most of which are owls. In addition to the animals there's a very nice cafe, a kids play area and a huge collection of little pedal tractors in the yard. You can also take a guided tour of the farm. What we now tend to do is using the money we've saved on the admission fee go at lunchtime, have something to eat in the cafe and then burn off the calories with a stroll around the farm.

The one thing they could do to improve the place is resurface the road up to the farm. It's a bit of a trek from the entrance on Nant-y-Gamar Road and it's the worst road I've ever driven on for potholes. Luckily the road is pretty quiet so you can serve from side to side to weave round the holes but it would be nice not to have to.

We knew this farm was there but couldnt find our way onto the fields then we saw the long drive. Once on we parked the car and began a trip which took be back to young days on the farm.
Having seen all the animals we sat in the cafe and enjoyed wonderful mint flavoured burgers. They do the lot here; rearing there own cattle and sheep and then cooking them! You can't get fresher than that!
