My one and only real complaint about this hotel was that I will never book and "Early Saver Rate" again, as I was charged £75 for 1 night B&B and the price was significantly reduced to £39 a few days before I was due to stay.
Tip is not to book early at Britannia hotels. The hotel's operations manager was unhelful to say the very least and would not honour the lower price. I was offered dinner instead, but this can only be taken between 6pm and 7pm. I arrived at the hotel at 6.10pm. By the time I had unpacked and had a bath, dinner was over, therefore I couldn't benefit from this.
Don't book "Early Saver Rates" at Britannia, as they mean nothing and you may well lose out considerably as a result.

Firstly I will say I don't do negative reviews, hotels are busy places and travellers have such varied tastes if I have an issue I make sure its dealt with by management, not on here. Basic isn't an issue but I do like clean !!!
This was my first visit to the grand for an anniversary break. We got a booking.com bargain and despite some negative comments decided to go for it, i was so glad we did.
The hotel is in a great location by the pier with lots of cheap parking right outside.Yes the hotel does look a little scruffy outside but as its been battered by the elements since 1901, I think I would be !! Step inside and you find a warm welcome, reception staff all very helpful and check in was very quick. The hotel interior is from a bygone era with chandeliers and tasteful decoration in keeping with its 112 year history.
We had a standard double room on the fourth floor which, was comfortable, clean and suited our needs with a kettle and tv provided. Yes décor is basic but it was all clean. I don't judge the quality of a stay on décor just cleanliness. The floor boards are quite creaky on the landing -not audible in rooms - we found this very quaint thinking of all the people who had trodden on them over the years.
The hotel is large and spacious with comfortable bar areas and live entertainment if you want it in the evening. The food was excellent value its a hot self service buffet in the evening with lots of choice and only £9.95. We dined on both evenings and there was a good choice of starters, main course and deserts. The breakfast was a similar style with good choice.
Around the hotel you will find antibacterial gel for guests to use I thought this a sensible and thoughful touch during the season of norovirus and guests coming and going !!
Overall we really enjoyed our stay, my advice to you would be if you want a good value historic break only a 5 min stroll from the town centre then go for it. If its modern fixtures and fittings your after with little atmosphere stick to the premier inn.
We will be returning.

Room Tip: Fourth floor quiet.

Whilst doing some research for places to stay in Llandudo The Grand came up, looked ok from the photos and price was good. Lovely grand entrance, reception friendly unfortunately room was clean but small (didn't show this room on the slide show) with an overpowering odour - age and cleaning products maybe ? Decor of the room can only be described as sickly yellow with furniture that should be put in a skip.
Should have gotten a hint from the sanitiser bottles spread everywhere that perhaps not the place to stay.
Even though we had already paid we decided to move to another hotel

Room Tip: Always ask to view room before you pay, photos don't always show the whole place

Booked for a family night away. The evening meal was mass produced typical food and nothing more really. The entertainment was aimed at over 65 and if you wanted anything else....tough. The room was typical of the age of the hotel. Breakfast was poor with the exception of the porridge. Drinks are expensive too.

Had a nice time at this hotel. All Staff were superb and helped you no end. All the food was excellent. 1st room choice was not so good, but the wife went straight back to reception and we were given another room which had a great view. Hotel is in need of a makeover, but is very clean and for the price no one can complain. Llandudno is a great place and we went out each night to stroll the number pubs in the town making it a nice entertaining weekend.

Just returned from a weekend at the Grand - we booked last minute as we simply fancied doing something different. When we arrived we upgraded to a Premier Room - well worth it. With a Premier room you eat in the Premier restaurant which is a carvery and much quieter than the main restaurant. Restaurant staff very friendly and food was really good. Reception staff and cleaners also very friendly.

For the price we paid - it was excellent value and we will definitely return.

Ok, the hotel is dated, and the floorboards creak - however, our view was lovely (sea view). No complaints from me.
