Hi, well here we go... We booked last minute as we fancied a night away. Reception was great service and we checked in ok.

Then we went to the room to be fair that was only £48 for the one night including breakfast. We went to the room 229 and it was a through back from the 70's plus very dark and smelt... Also a bathroom with sink toilet and just a Bath !

We returned to reception got a room with a shower but all I can say it was not the best..

You get what you pay for.... We went out all day to see the sights and had a few drinks to num the thought of going back to HMP llandudnoooo.

My mrs did not sleep all night due to all the noise of the people in rooms next door and I must admit I am a deep sleeper but I was woken up a few times in the early hours with people taking and doors slamming.

It is what it is but it ain't the best... Trust me...

Room Tip: There are not any !

A very disappointing overnight stay last night at The Grand. I hoped for a 1930's stay in a beautiful looking hotel overlooking the Victorian resort of Llandudno. I got a small, shabby, faded, dirty windowed stay in a hot room on the fifth floor. The floor boards were so creaky that you could hear every movement of other people on the same floor. The room was very clean with fresh white linen sheets, but out dated and overlooked the decaying roof of the floor below. Tea and coffee were basic as were soaps etc. The hotel was full of coach trippers watching TV and breakfast was very poor. Warm yogurt, cold toast piled up and greasy cold bacon, horrid. The lounge had lovely plaster walls and ceiling but torn chairs and sofas with dirty tables. The tables and chairs outside didn't look like they had been cleaned in weeks. Staff did not wear hair nets when serving food and the best seats in the restaurants were unused, but we were not allowed to sit in them, so forget that lovely photo on the add. Faded, basic, run down and disappointing.

Room Tip: Ask not to be put on the firth floor.

We arrived at lunch time on Thursday 17 October, the weather was excellent, sunshine and blue skies. I booked this Hotel on line direct through the Britannia booking website which was a bit misleading, I thought we had paid but the manager insisted we hadn't so I paid again, they promised to refund me if I'd paid twice.
The manager Dan then gave us a voucher for a bottle of wine as a token for the misunderstanding.
The Hotel very well situated and has a unique charm of its own from another era, The rooms were clean but very basic and dated, could have done with a refurbishment to bring it up to standard. Couldn't complain too much about the food even though it was very canteenish.
We were due to be let into our room at 3.00 but Reception was very good and said we could go in at 1.00
Dinner was 7 to 8, we got into the restaurant about 7.30, there were a few people still in there so we got ourselves seated after being asked to move from the Premier section (not obvious it was different) and went to the carvery to get our food. What was on offer was very basic and not very appetizing, veg over cooked, chips cold etc. Not long after we sat down to eat the staff, which were very nice and helpful started to clear up and prepare the restaurant for breakfast. So by 8.00 we were on our own - so based on this it's a good job we didn't arrive at 8.00!!
We were on the 5th floor in the very last room, as we went into the corridor we were met by a swarm of blue bottles, so we opened a window in an attempt to get rid of them, it didn't work as they were there in the morning.
The hot water took a while to reach the tap in our room but that was only to be expected considering where our room was - no problem in reality.
The toilet cistern once flushed would not refill due to the mechanism sticking which we got around, I put this fault on our feedback card so they could get it fixed. The room window double glazed units had lost their vacuum and as a consequence were cloudy and difficult to see through. The heating system was first class and worked a treat.
We had a good nights sleep even though the mattress could have been more comfortable - the springs were a little on the raised side!
Breakfast was cooked as per advert but there were no mushrooms or tomatoes and the brown sauce was not good.
We had to out by 10 which we were as parking around the hotel was pay and display which cost us £4.10 not too bad.
In conclusion it was good value for money at £65.50 for 2 of us but could be so much better with more attention to detail, the staff were all good people and very helpful and a lot of things that need sorting are down to the top end of the Britannia chain of command.

Room Tip: Would be nice to have one with a sea view.

Hotel very well situated, The rooms were clean but very basic and dated, could do with a refurbishment to bring it up to standard. Couldn't complain about the food, good choice of menu and decent portions. Thought the entertainment was rather poor and the bingo was an extortionate price, but overall a pleasant stay.

Stayed here overnight. The building looks a bit distressed from outside do not be too put off by this. Undergoing an obvious paint job inside so should look ok when done. Room was clean and cosy and in line with other brittania hotels we have used plenty warm enough. Food was plentiful and pretty average but no complaints. Staff were superb and helpful. Ticked all the right boxes for.a cheap stay. Magnificent view of the bay. Advice to would be customers remember this is an old building past its best but certainly not without charm. Don't expect too much and you should be fine. Will have no problem staying here again.
