This street has most of the smaller shops and some big name shops with a shopping arcade to.
Further down the road there a couple of shopping estates with currys and british home stores to.

Llandudno calls itself "The Queen of Welsh Resorts".In my view thats accurate if you recognise its a very old queen, with a "past-its-best" feel.Mostyn Street, its main shopping street is a case in point.
On the PLUS side its one long street with a percentage under awnings so,for bits of the street its partially sheltered from the rain.Upper Mostyn Street is overshadowed by the MAJESTIC Great Ormes imposing face.Utterly brilliant.I NEVER weary of it.
The shops along Mostyn Street vary from the usuall high street names,M&S,WH,Smith H.Samual ,Greenwoods mans shop with its never ending sales signs in the windows etc,to the small local shops, and Claires dept store with its quaint, but inadaquate cage lift.

The negatives are the pavements are terrible. The flag stones often have BIG gaps between them,It crys out for a reboot. But then the eyesore of the crumbling Tudno Hotel on lower Mostyn street is testimony to decline. It blights Mostyn street.Decaying.

Llandudno sticks to an unchangiung, unimaginative, dated calendar. Each May the so-called "Victorian Extraveganza",The latter word being a GROSS exageration,in my view,Clogs up Mostyn Street for two days over the bank holiday.See it once, youve seen it.Its the same-olde year after year.I avoid it utterly as buses are rerouted, theres chaos in the town during this circus.
Like ALL UK high streets this ones taken the hit of recession etc. Many shops have gone in recent years. Its NOT a cheap High street either.Aside from the SPLENDID KFC which Ive reviewed before,Mostyn Street has expensive coffee shops and Cafes.though Barnicles on lower Mostyn street is a decent Fish and Chip cafe and takaway, the Cafe IS NOT cheap,,and NOT big on portions,BUT boasts a decent Gluton free menu.

Mostyn Street, being blighted by this victorian image of itself, has some cafes etc inaccessible to those who cannot manage steep stairs up,and/or toilets in the bowls of the buildings, pardon the pun,in basements, again accessed by steep stairs.
The irony of it is,Llandudno depends on the "Gray Pound",elderly visitors, often with mobility issues, yet,so many venues on Mostyn street etc,are difficult or impossible to access,CRAZY!.

On Mostyn Street the Victoria Centre is a fairly decent small shopping mall,Boots Dorothy Perkins,Evens etc are there.

Llandudno Business park, which is beyond lower Mostyn street with Denenhams,Next has drawn footfall and trade from MostynStreet,so it might be said, today,Mostyn street is not the main focus shopping of the town any longer.

Overall its fine strolling along Mostyn Street One word of warning,it dies at around 5.30pm,when the shops close.

A good variety of shops but, like many other shopping streets, is now starting to suffer from empty units.

What a pleasant change to walk down a town's Main Street and find a good selection of shops that were open and busy on Saturday and Sunday out of season. It is well looked after, very clean and tidy- we were impressed!
